Corsair lead time

I want to place a custom order for a 22 Reserve, but I’m going to be out of the country for over a month in about 3 months… and I’ll be living across the country once I get back, so I’ll need a car almost immediately. Does anyone have an idea how long dealerships will allow a custom ordered car to sit at the dealership before fining me or getting pissy, or worse, letting others test drive it?

Hi leon. You need to ask your Dealership those questions. Tell them your situation and see what they can/will do to accommodate you. There is no way for anyone else (like us anonymous Internet mooks) to give you an accurate answer as to what an unknown Dealership may or may not do.

My opinion from experience: Most Dealerships want to sell a vehicle as soon as it arrives, since having it sit there unsold costs them money. That goes for Factory Orders and stock vehicles.
But again, no one here can tell you what your Dealership definitely will or will not do.

And whatever they tell you...get it in writing, in detail, from the Sales Manager or the General Manager. Not a Salesperson.

And just as a reality check...Even if they agree to hold it a week, two weeks, a month etc....there is no guarantee they would not let someone sit in it, test drive it etc., if doing so might get somehow them a sale.

A possible option would be to give a family member or very close friend limited Power of Attorney to sign in your place to purchase the vehicle for you when it arrives. But even that would need to be cleared with the Dealership in advance.

I finally got an email from Lincoln, but only to tell me my production time has been extended. Yet, I've never received a production date, so how can it be extended? Has anyone else received this?
I received the same email too. I have not received an email that it was in production. I ordered mine on 1/26 and giving it a 2 month lead time to get the "In Production" email, but instead I received the extension email. :( I am hoping this doesn't drag out too long...

I just took delivery on my '22 Corsair Reserve 1 on 3/19. Ordered it on 10/15/20, first email said build scheduled week of 1/31/21, got two more emails each pushing the build back one week. Received email on 2/19 announcing it was complete, to expect it at dealer between 3/11 and 3/17. Got email on 2/28 saying car had shipped, expected dates same. Car rolled off the train in Laurel, MT early morning hours of 3/18, picked it up on 3/19. Got email on 3/18 saying my "production timeline" has been extended. Go figure.

Five months and four days. For an old retired guy with a perfectly good car (2019 RDX) in the garage, this works but only if you have an abundance of patience. For somebody who really needs a car soon, this is not a very pretty picture if this is the "new" paradigm of car purchasing.

Wow, even for a reserve. What were your options packages, if you don't mind sharing? Certain ones are related to longer wait times.

One thing confuses me (in addition to the errant email about schedule delay), Lincoln now is offering (just last few weeks) 0% 36 mo financing on the Reserve models. The impression I get from their sales guys and from the press is that this is one of their most popular models and is in short supply. If that's the case, then why the giveaway financing deal (which I jumped on)?

I'll have a complete back to back review after I put a few miles on it (in the shop now getting clear PPF bra)

MT-Corsair, the 0% on 36 months has been in place since December; I am picking my Grand Touring up from the dealer on Wednesday and will be taking advantage also.

For what its worth, you and I were on exactly the same production schedule - I ordered 10/9, same build week, completion date and delivery date as yours. Flight Blue, Ebony interior, Elements/Tech Bundle, Luxury and CoPilot360+ packages.

Same boat. An email with an extended production delay is the first time I’ve heard from Lincoln. Auto trader shows over 120 2022 Corsair GTs available for sale but I’ve been waiting since November 27th of last year. I was told at the time of the order Lincoln (Ford) was only building orders first, then dealer allotments. Guess I was either lied to or Ford changed their tune.

OR, is it possible that these are all customer ordered vehicles? I see one GT "in transit" at the dealer that also shows my Reserve "In transit". I called, and it is sold, (or perhaps has a deposit on it)

Edit to add: I suppose that it is possible that some of these GTs will become available, if the buyers have changed their minds.

My GT is currently listed for sale on my dealer's website, despite the fact that it's a retail order and I will be purchasing it on Wednesday. My dealer told me they are required to list it online. It currently reads as "Not in Stock - in transit or currently on order"
 
I heard the Curb Feeler and Simulated Convertible Top Package adds additional delays due to its popularity with retired folks. But you get an AARP discount on your insurance. ;)

Maybe someone else knows more, but my experience and understanding is that both the Lincoln and dealer website data are not always accurate or up to date. Some cars may be sold, others may have deposits, others may be "In Transit", dealer trade, etc. Your best bet is to either call or visit the dealership with the car you are interested in and see what the status is. The website data is a starting point but it's not the definitive answer.

My dealership in Knoxville specifies three different types. Available for sale, in transit, and dealer ordered. I believe "dealer ordered" are customer orders. "Available for sale" is the dealer's stock. And "in transit" can be either. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
 
I ordered a GT. Priority code 19.
I was priority code 19, but maybe my lemon-law case pushed me through faster. Ordered 11/16. Delivered 1/19.

To this day I can still hear the sound of the curb feelers on my father's '51 Plymouth as they made contact with the curb. Another great parking job, dad! Good times, man.
 
FINALLY got a production date! May 9. Ordered Dec 29 with priority code 10. Looks like the 8-10 weeks my dealership told me quickly turned into 5 months. But at least it'll be just in time for my birthday. Great present to myself. Lol

Hi JLB. Just a repeat of a previous FYI, in order to avoid slight confusion later: Take another look at that notification you received. Does it state production date of 5/9/22 or production week of 5/9/22?

At a month and a half before production, it would be unusual to receive an actual production date (the day it will be produced) so far ahead of production time. The usual procedure at this point would be to get a production week (the week it will be produced), and that date will be a Monday (which 5/9/22 is). That means you vehicle is currently scheduled to be built sometime during that week or 5/9/22-5/14/22
Then you will receive a notification of an actual production date closer to actual production.

That is why it is likely the notification states something similar to "Your vehicle will be built the week of 5/9/22", and 5/9/22 is a Monday.

Double check that notification and good luck.

Man, ordered 11/22/21 and haven’t heard anything from Lincoln. Contacted Lincoln Concierge 2 weeks ago to investigate the order and they drew a blank. Dealership contacted Ford rep who ‘inquired’ but has no information on why my GT is not in production. I was told my Priority was 2. Too vested in the wait time to cancel now but Lincoln is not something I will recommend to others. The pandemic is no excuse for others ordering after I did but receiving a production date. My GT is not ‘fully loaded’ so that ‘tired’ excuse doesn’t hold either.
Shame on Lincoln (Ford).
