My wife claims she was toweling of her Corsair at the carwash with the hatch open and the key inside. And she thinks she accidently hit the lock button. All four doors are then locked and hatch is still open- leaving the only way to unlock her car is to crawl through the hatch. Is that possible?

I’ve never found that out with my ‘24 GT…haven’t tried either. What I have done is when wiping my Corsair down with the key fob not on me and out of range I have activated the door locking feature due to having the My Lincoln app active on my cell phone.

Does your Corsair have the digital unlock function on the drivers door? If so…you can enter the code should you lock yourself out or use the My Lincoln app to do the same.

Yes and established the 5 digit code when the car was new. Wife never used it and forgot about it. There was another interesting thing that occurred. Before she realized she was locked out she tried to close the hatch -and it would only close halfway allowing her enough room to crawl in. Maybe some kind of safety measure that was built in??

Hi littleneil. Yes, she most likely accidentally pressed the exterior lock button located on the driver side door (or also the passenger side on some vehicles).

That would allow the vehicle to be locked with the keyfob located inside the vehicle.

This feature is described in the Owners Manual (or at least used to be). I use it once in a while, to lock my vehicle in situations like beach visits and similar outdoor activities, where I would rather not have to carry my keyfob with me.

Yes, she could have used the 5 digit code to unlock the driver door, instead of climbing in through the hatch. And my guess is that the hatch not closing is most likely an anti-lockout safety feature, as you surmised.

EDIT- On a related note: On my MKZ (not sure about newer models), the 7/8 and 9/0 simultaneous two button press can also be accidentally activated by the higher pressure stream of water from a water hose nozzle. Ask me how I know. 😉

Good luck.
