BlueCruise upgrde

Doubtful at this point that any of us with 2022-2024 year models will see any updates to this.
Well, I won't be paying for a monthly subscription when mine runs out, for BlueCruise that doesn't work when the sun comes out.

I don't experience that issue really. But, I won't pay for the original version from 3 years ago when it seems clear this can be pushed out to older vehicles.

If we don’t get updated I will never own another Lincoln product. A 120,000.00 we should be the first in line for updates.

I don't know if it is a deal breaker for me, but I certainly understand that point of view. I wouldn't be too happy with the Macbook Pro I am on or any other device if it never received updates to features.

LOL... I just realized it's inherently the same as purchasing any software.

The very first thing that's needed is an update to the latest version.

Come on Lincoln, get with the program! {Pun intended} :p

I haven't asked Lincoln yet, but has anyone here reached the point of renewing BC? Mine is due in April. Now, if they say, and zi get it in writing somehow, that renewing will update to the latest version, then I'll do it.

Let us know what happens. Mine isn't until July.

So.... What happened??
I reluctantly renewed. Then, I went to the dealer to get it updated. They screwed it up somehow. Initially said server went down and one of the modules did not update. Rendered BC completely inoperable. Then, service manager called and said it is a deeper issue, theorized by the service tech, than the failure of the server to complete the update.

Now, I have to eventually drop it off and take a loaner for who knows how many days until they can maybe resolve it. And, Fair Oaks has zero Navigators in service as loaners. ANY Navigators, not just 2025 year models. So, I will be relegated to an Aviator or something for who knows how long.

So when you renewed did they tell you a upgrade would be available via the dealer.

I had been told that a few weeks earlier. Somehow, Ford/Lincoln can't say when an OTS update might happen, and gee whiz they have thousands to send out. Yeah, I think Apple sells quite a few more phones and computers but has no issue getting updates out frequently.

So, they said I can wait what could be days to months for an OTA update or go to any Lincoln/Ford dealer and have it installed. I chose to go where I always go and they screwed it up.

Not to defend your dealer, BUT I had my Navigator in for service when their servers did go down. IF they happened to be updating the BlueCruise when that transpired, I could see it being problematic. Much akin to updating firmware on electronic devices, if the process is unintentionally interrupted it could 'brick' the device.

Or it could be a convenient excuse. :p

I suspect in my case if I want to have BlueCruise updated for my 2024 Navigator, I'm going to have to find another dealer.

I don't doubt you could be correct. And, this service manager is basically the reason I did not become a non-Lincoln customer back in 2021. So, I will let them try to resolve it. Not his fault the GM won't release some Navs as loaners.

I received a SW update notification yesterday and came home and installed it. 2022 Lincoln Nav BL. I drove last night and the BC seemed to be much smoother without so many micro-corrections. No Lane pinging form left to right and back. Does not add automatic lane change. Will have to see if the direct sun issues are any better when the environment permits.

SW update? Maybe I need more coffee lol.

I was able to get BluePilot (variant of OpenPilot) working on my 2022 Lincoln Navigator with the Comma 3x device and the Q4 harness that connects to the vehicles CAN bus. The installation of the device and programming took about 30 minutes and was relatively simple to do. Everything is working so far, and I now have hands free driving even on roads not supported by BlueCruise. I believe that BluePilot should work with all 2022-2024 Lincoln Navigators including those that did not come factory equipped with BlueCruise.

BluePilot is open source self-driving software developed as an alternative to BlueCruise and does not require a subscription. It is definitely worth looking into even if your BlueCruise subscription is not expiring soon. There are several videos on youtube comparing comma.ai open source self driving software to all of the other self driving software out there. There are also quite a few directly comparing BluePilot, which is the variant developed for Ford products, to BlueCruise.
