It’s all good! As Navi owners, we’re here for you. If I were in your shoes, I’d either let it go or ask that your Blue Cruise be recalibrated. As I mentioned earlier, I find it incredibly convenient and useful. Sure, it may bark at you if the sun is in your eyes, but apart from that, it’s been fantastic. This isn’t my first vehicle with autonomous driving, but the Volvo, Audi, and this Navi are among the best.
(NOTE: Unless a reader has a pony in this race, probably not worthwhile to read this WORDY manifesto.)
Thanks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a BIG fan of BlueCruise. Got about 5K miles using it. My problem is I trained Dale Carnegie for 34 years and the tactics used by Lincoln are pretty much egregious and rub me wrong. Here we go:
* (SALES - Delivery walk thru) As long as you are “subscribed” to BlueCruse, you will receive the OTA upgrades and all the features.
* (CONNECTED SERVICES - One week post delivery). You will absolutely receive the 1.3/1.4 versions. We just can’t quote the time frame.
* (CONCIERGE REP) We had bluecruse training recently and asked training management how we could be expected to support owners of our flagship vehicle who were faced with no upgrade path from version 1.0, while vehicles at half the investment are enjoying the increased safety of versions 1.3/1.4. We were told explicitly that 2024 Navigator 1.0 owners WILL RECEIVE THE UPGRADE, ota . They just could not specify WHEN.
Later in the conversation, this same rep became aware that my vehicle was at the dealer’s location getting some warranty repairs done. She exclaimed “If it’s in the shop now, why don’t you get them to do the 1.3 update manually, instead of ota? She opened a case, and sent dealer message that they SHOULD do the upgrade and if they had any challenge whatsoever, to contact them on the dealer support channel and the engineers would walk them through it.
Dealer agreed to do the update and confirmed, with voicemail AND in writing that they would complete the upgrade to “1.3”. I have copies of both.
I picked up the vehicle when they confirmed the repairs to starter, battery, AND UPGRADE TO 1.3 was completed.
The 1.3 upgrade was not done.
Both Dallas and Houston Lincoln dealers (SERVICE DEPARTMENTS) have confirmed that I am pretty much Charlie Brown, kicking at that same old illusive football.
*******
I’m going to the dealer tomorrow. Bought my first vehicle from them in 1973. (51 years ago). I’m confident they will have an explanation for telling me the pre-sales stories, and sending me away, asking for 5’s on surveys, claiming to have me upgraded to 1.3.
Should the meeting tomorrow not solve this situation, I guess it’s good that I’m retired, passionate, and have a couple of nickels in the piggy bank.
Damn, I hate L O N G texts.
