bank cat 2 check engine

The spark plug at its base does not look like a cone seal, more like a washer. My Town Car plugs had a very noticeable cone seat. What is the make and type of plug that you took out? What plugs have you put in?
I dont think they were ever changed, factory motorcraft plat & i put in the same ones

Do you have outcome?
The check engine is still on. Im not going to change the O2s as theyre still covered under warranty but the cat isnt. I am going to put a cat cleaner and drive around 50 miles tomorrow and see if the light comes off. If not, dealer next week.

Put some injector cleaner as well and use premium. If it's a matter of cleaning residual oil or re-oxidising burning in sensors and cats, should go off 8n few days.

It is qurious whether you have performance improvement with the new plugs? Also any noticeable engine running handicaps before?

Ive been using premium all month. Engine power def went up. I really think its build up from sitting for 7 months. Bc the light comes & goes w cleaner & actual driving

Use a stronger cleaner: BG 44K or Gumout's SeaFoam look-alike. Both stronger than Techron. Your injectors are still spitting instead of spraying.

My mistake, the line of dirt fooled me into thinking there was a separate washer present. Sorry.
i disconnected the battery for about a min to reset the cel. i connected it, but now the car hasnt been starting. makes 0 sense, i checked the manual, did the different ways it said to start it. does it take some time for it to be able to start once it loses power? the stereo comes on, but nothing but the mileage on the dash, trunk doesnt open etc. idk what happened, and now im stuck in a cold parking lot at work, thanks

Disconnect it again and wait 20 minutes.
Other than that, open and close door, lock and unlock. It's Microsoft.

What I would do is disconnect it again and wait two-three cirarettes (7 minutes each).
Then connect back again very fast, almost with a bit on the terminal. - I always do that.

I haven't been in such situation. Is it possible you forgot lights and just drained the battery?

No possible way battery was drained, i drove and immediately parked and took off positive terminal, waited like 3 mins, and reconnected, not starting, i will try to disconnect and reconnect, i put the tools in the trunk and shut it. I couldnt find a manual way of opening trunk, i feel like mr bean. my brother is coming, and i will do the disconnect and go from there.

if the battery is drained, it will be super odd, my app isnt even working as if the car is dead totally. but the stereo comes on fine, but outside of that, nothing comes on. weird

The service manual recommends removing the neg battery terminal to disconnect the electrical system. That is a bigger job than normal because the battery must be moved forward for access to the terminal retaining bolt. The manual also says:

NOTE: When the battery (or PCM) is disconnected and connected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The charging system set point may also vary. The vehicle may need to be driven to relearn its strategy.

There is nothing that I can see that would prevent the pos terminal detachment and replacement causing the electrical system to fail. Have you checked the fuses in the Battery Junction Box?

Microsoft 🤣 a couple of minutes just didn't erase it properly and on power on all the temp memory was uploaded while still not erased completely and some systems didn't have working software.

Not Microsoft's fault, kidding. Some Jaguars and Audis would do the same or even stumble or mess up* at startup/cranking when the voltage drops below certain threshold.
*Including dashboard indicators, read non existing errors, etc. One Jaguar rolled it's needles so far in opposite direction that one broke and one stuck.
At delivery my Continental was reading about 30 mistakes and malfunctions. 15 minutes later there were none.

Congratulations for the "repair"

How are the other issues?

Haaaaaaa. Funny enough the check engine didnt even go away! The cars driving amazing and fast acceleration. But im going to do it w a scan tool. And then use it to graph the o2 sensors. I was suppose to drop it off at the dealer but just didnt want to give up yet and plus, i enjoy figuring out my cars per se. the weathers warm this weekend in ny, so ill try to see what else i can do.

Problem is injectors spitting not spraying. Catalytic converter cleaner isn't necessary: fuel system cleaner. Also, have you reset the OBDII: it will hold that CEL until it is reset.

Oh -- no disrespect intended -- but, good job in tightening the positive cable! Next time, pull the negative at the ground point.

Sorry, disconnecting the ground at the tower does not disconnect the electrical system. According to the service manual.

Worth checking out: might wait until the 2017 is out of the shop and ready for lease close out. Wouldn't want to hurt the newby . . .
