Performing several improvements and upgrades to the stock radio. (Audiophile) First I noticed rattles coming from the rear shelf. Turns out my rear seat center shoulder harness retractor/lock mechanism had a serious rattle. (Located next to the subwoofer!) I got some sound deadening material like dynamat and applied to the retractor and most of the rear shelf being careful not to affect the function of the retractor/lock mechanism.

Then replaced the factory speakers on the rear shelf with some Polks db571s.

I plan to do the front speakers as well. Also possibly upgrade the subwoofer speaker, using the existing housing and amplifier.

I am searching for an ipod interface to connect to the factory Radio with 6 Disc CD changer inside. I really desire to keep the stock appearance. Found a few options after searching the internet extensively. If anyone else has any experience here your input would be appreciated. PIE makes a FRD03-POD/S unit I am trying this next week, this connects as a SAT Radio. Also will be hooking up a blue tooth IHF-1000 from Motorola I have laying around, and will attempt to use the factory radio as an interface point. If successful I will post a how to on this. I have found very limited information on this audio system and possible upgrades. Using information about other Ford Radios I have found.

I really love the classic ride of the Town Car but I want to upgrade the sound, and have a hands free phone. I mounted a Garmin to the dash with a custom mount, and hid the power wire behind the dash.

Your write-ups would be very helpful to the users here. We have a Lincoln Tech Forum here: http://www.lincolnforums.com/forums/forums/41-Lincoln-Tech that would be a good place to post your threads since they will not get lost among the day to day problems in this forum. Currently we have only one procedure related to the radio removal: http://www.lincolnforums.com/forums/threads/10481-Town-Car-Radio-head-unit-removal-and-replacement If you need any stock procedures I will get them for you.

Good luck.

I did an Alpine CD/Bluetooth. Works great, downloads my phone book and controls my IPhone/ITunes.
I upgraded the speakers to Boston Acoustics 6X9s n the back and Alpine 5X7s in the front. I eliminated the sub woofer. It sounds great and has all of the functionality of a new car stereo.
The radio was $130, what a deal!

2007Designer, any luck on Bluetooth integration? I've been trying to figure something out for a while myself. Lots of options out there, but I'm looking for something cost effective!

Late to the party, just joined... as I just bought my first Town Car this week! 2005 Signature Limited 95k miles in great shape. Looking to upgrade the Speakers and Head unit. I found the Headunit instructions on here, but does anyone have the speaker replacement diagrams? Thanks if anyone reads this!

Which speakers are you considering replacing?

Hey TOWN: I see you are VERRY full of a whole lot of helpful info! Do ya happen to have wiring colors/plugs to put in an rca adapter at the back of the head unit? I would like to put an amp in and I need to put in a lower output rca plug adapter on the rear output wiring.
Head unit is a stock basic single cd/cassette stereo in a 07 Town Car SIGNATURE.

Thanks in advance... Brian. aka Klincoln

Well I gone did it...pulled the stock stereo out and popped in a Kenwood DDX374BT Head Unit. Wow talk about the difference of sound even on just the stock speakers!!!! Now I have to wait for the mounting kit to show up on Friday 10th. It still sits firmly in the opening but not looking finished. Then I'll throw the backup camera and extra amp and speakers in after I get it mounted.
