Are you kidding me???

Any idea of when you will get your new car?
Will it be as long as the fall?
When we first inquired, he had told us six months, which I suspect(ed?) is optimistic, but hey, selling optimism is what he does, right? When we ordered, he told us to expect July or August, which frankly astonishes me in the current environment, but I suppose we'll see. That's why I went ahead and bought the Edge, though. This way I'm not really in a hurry, and the new Corsair will get here when it's ready. I'm sure they'll take it as a trade-in, and even at trade-in value, it'll be much less expensive to me than continuing to rent the Tiguan, which is now on my dime.

After all that, while at the dealership, I had a really good look at the option packages for the Corsair, and it turns out that on the standard, some things are no longer available, or they're now available only in a package we don't want, or in one case, the necessary package isn't available if you get another package.

That, for example, left me needing to choose between a leather-wrapped steering wheel (available only in the "premium" package, with other options we don't care for) or a *heated* steering wheel (available in the elements package, which can't be purchased with the premium package, and vice versa). The leather wrapped steering wheel in 2020 was standard on all trim levels, and did not interfere in any way with the elements package, either at purchase time, or in actual use.

So ... we ordered a Corsair Reserve instead, packaged up so that it as closely matches as possible (modulo the decontented items like the temperature displays in the center console) the Corsair we so loved, *plus* I'll get the fog lights I was intending to add myself. We also had the dealership order the engine cover and hardware from the 2020. I'm not sure if they'll install it for us or just hand it over with the keys, but I'll certainly be glad to install it myself if necessary.

We're expecting to pick up the 2010 Edge tomorrow (from a different dealer). The Ford/Lincoln dealer has ordered necessary parts to address a couple of outstanding recalls for it, and they'll let me know when those are available.
When I read your previous entry, I was going to suggest you upgrade to the Reserve since it sounds like two of you will be driving it, which makes it wonderful to have the memory seat and memory steering column feature that is not available in the Standard.

Why do you have to pay for the rental car at all?
You have the means to buy another vehicle. But what about the guy that does not?
As I understand the situation, it wasn't your fault that the accident happened. You didn't back into the other guy. He/she hit you!!!
Not sure why you should have to pay for anything?

Hrmmm... The 2020 Standard had memory seat, so it didn't occur to me to check whether that would be an issue, but in actuality, only I drive. My spouse has a say because we own the car together, and her comfort matters (of course), but she doesn't drive.

The insurance company paid for the rental only until they "cut the check" for the written off vehicle, which was middle of last week. After that I've been on my own. I certainly agree that I shouldn't have to pay at all, and the insurance should be paying until the replacement vehicle is delivered, but the truth is that I simply don't want to undertake that battle. Insurance companies are very difficult to fight against. They're replacing the car. The Reserve, optioned up to what we want, is only about $4K (CDN) more than the insurance will pay in total, so overall, we're getting an upgrade that we hadn't planned for.

Oh, it was the power adjustable steering column linked to memory that I upgraded to Reserve for. Because of medical problem with my thumbs and wrists, the manual lever to adjust the column is painful for me. Curious, what color did you order?

Red Carpet Metallic, exactly like our 2020. We love the color.
I love the red also, my wife does not, hence, the one we will likely buy today is Asher Gray.

I have an Asher Grey on order and with the Monochromatic package, it just spoke to me..., then again I am a fan of the "Charcoal Grey" color family, the Maverick I have on order, is the Carbonized Grey Metallic.

The Maverick's going to be great too, I'm sure. For the next few months, I'll be happy with my "new" 2010 Ford Edge in "cinnamon". (not bad; any rust that shows up will just *blend* with the paint color!)

Bought the '22 Asher Gray/Sandstone Corsair Reserve1 today. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow, I hope.

Too painful to look at, perhaps?

I'm not going to be judgy! ;-) Let's face it, the Corsair looks great in any of the available color combinations.
The Corsair is beautiful in all its' colors! I was

I agree! I was drawn to Silver Radiance with ebony interior.

With regard to the steering wheel, we got the Standard with premium and elements packages and the center airbag cover is hard plastic. Looks really cheap. I assumed that it would be the nicer steering wheel that comes on the higher trims, with the stitching on the soft-touch airbag cover. Window sticker says leather wrapped steering wheel, but wasn’t expecting the big chunk of plastic in the middle. Any chance this is a build issue, or is this just how it comes on the Standard even with the premium package?

My 2020 Standard didn't have the premium package, and I'm afraid at this point I don't recall whether the steering wheel airbag unit was soft touch or hard plastic. It's hard plastic on the 2010 Edge, but that doesn't help you much ...

Thanks, maybe someone else with the premium package will chime in. Appreciate it.

Hi ccroce. That is how it comes.

Unfortunately, unless the "Premium Package" states it includes some sort of upgraded airbag/horn cover, it would not change the standard cover.
The description of an upgraded "Leather wrapped steering wheel" means exactly what it states and nothing more. The steering wheel itself is leather wrapped. Not the center airbag/horn cover.

Good luck.

Great, thanks for confirming! Now to investigate the cost of an air bag swap...
