Any recommendations for new tires 2022 navigator looking for

I drove the whole way back at 37, which dropped to 34 cold and it rode worse than when I started. When researching the terrain contacts, they said it was a good highway ture, but im guessing g thats comparable to other terrain tires. I think i wanna swap to a more highway focused tire. Discount t tire by my wrk has 50 series michelins on hand so ima swap em tomorrow.

Hi dlcorbett. Just a suggestion: If a smooth highway/road ride and comfort is your primary focus (as opposed to off-road/all-terrain usage), look for tires rated in the “Grand Touring” class.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Where do I find out whose tires fit that category? On tire rack, does that equate to the touring class? The Michelin are part of the highway class on tire rack, which is the class the continentals I have is in? In the touring class, only the Bridgestone alenzas show in touring class.

Hi dlcorbett. Go to The Tire Rack. Fill in the drop downs to search for tires for the 2022 Navigator.

The available tires will be displayed. Simply look at the tire category listed for each available tire. If you want maximum ride comfort on the highway/road, and your “off-road” driving only consists of paved parking lots or a gravel road once in a while, concentrate on tires listed in the “Grand Touring All-Season”, “Touring All-Season” and “Highway All-Season” categories.

It will simplify your search if you also use the “Filter” drop downs to fine tune your preferences.

Generally speaking, the “Grand Touring All-Season”, “Touring All-Season”, and “Highway All-Season” categories will offer better overall ride comfort on paved roads/highways. In descending order.

You can also click on the classification/category for a more detailed explanation of each category.

Keep in mind that the ratings are based on comparing and rating each tire only against other tires in the same category. You accidentally discovered that fact with the All-Terrain tires on your vehicle. Their good highway ride comfort rating was only based on rating them in comparison to other All-Terrain tires, not Grand Touring All-Season or Highway All-Season tires etc.

Generally speaking…the worst “Grand Touring All-Season” tire will probably have a better highway ride than the best “All-Terrain” rated tire.
Of course, it will also not handle off-road driving very well either.

Hope this basic explanation may help you find and navigate the multitude of tire choices a little better.

I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

Well were almost home from our trip, and i think I made a mistake. I wanted to go bigger to help stop all the nvh concerns over rough roads, but I wanted to keep how smooth it rode otherwise. Idk if its the actual tires or if it was because I went up in size, but this ride back was extremely stiff. At first, in town and city roads, it did what i wanted and i was extremely happy about it. Yes, the tires felt a tad firm over expansion joints, but never harsh. However, as soon as i got on the open road, it flipped on us. The tires clomp over every imperfection and any pattered roads still caused vibrations, but added impact harshness that wasn't there before. Even my wife was like its nowhere near as nice as it was before. Im calling discount tire first thing monday to see if it needs a rebalance or if I can swap to another brand.
You should have gone with Post #3. They would not have disappointed you.

I replaced the continentals with Michelin, and it finally rides how I want it, it drives perfect now. However, I think discount tire fed up my running board.

Which ones are they?
