Where do I find out whose tires fit that category? On tire rack, does that equate to the touring class? The Michelin are part of the highway class on tire rack, which is the class the continentals I have is in? In the touring class, only the Bridgestone alenzas show in touring class.
Hi dlcorbett. Go to The Tire Rack. Fill in the drop downs to search for tires for the 2022 Navigator.
The available tires will be displayed. Simply look at the tire category listed for each available tire. If you want maximum ride comfort on the highway/road, and your “off-road” driving only consists of paved parking lots or a gravel road once in a while, concentrate on tires listed in the “Grand Touring All-Season”, “Touring All-Season” and “Highway All-Season” categories.
It will simplify your search if you also use the “Filter” drop downs to fine tune your preferences.
Generally speaking, the “Grand Touring All-Season”, “Touring All-Season”, and “Highway All-Season” categories will offer better overall ride comfort on paved roads/highways. In descending order.
You can also click on the classification/category for a more detailed explanation of each category.
Keep in mind that the ratings are based on comparing and rating each tire only against other tires in the
same category. You accidentally discovered that fact with the All-Terrain tires on your vehicle. Their good highway ride comfort rating was only based on rating them in comparison to other All-Terrain tires, not Grand Touring All-Season or Highway All-Season tires etc.
Generally speaking…the worst “Grand Touring All-Season” tire will probably have a better highway ride than the best “All-Terrain” rated tire.
Of course, it will also not handle off-road driving very well either.
Hope this basic explanation may help you find and navigate the multitude of tire choices a little better.
I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.
