2024 Premium Connectivity Trial Extension

I saw that too.

One could argue it should be as long as the warranty as a minimum.
That would make sense, to us, but to the CFO, not so much. I am not taking the CFOs side, I agree with us.

My Connectivity service expires 1-8-26. And to Cliffdriver... If you are talking to anyone on this board, you are special, because all of the rest of us are, special, that is.

I saw that too.
I just noticed this morning also. That's one step closer to the 4 years they offered the 2024 owners.

I just saw this on my Lincoln app. It looks like they figured out the pricing. Seems a little high to me to pay $180 a year to see traffic on my native google map. Maybe it is time to break Google apart 😡

😒 💸

You save 7 cents if you take the monthly plan over paying up front for a year 🙂
Annual plan should have a discount!
Their logic is that if you can afford to pay for an entire year at once, then you can certainly afford an extra 7¢.

Yea, I saw this a few days ago too. I’ll probably let it expire and see what I miss and then make a decision. My thinking is that it should be about half that price. Or better yet, they should give us 3 more years to match what the 2025s get.

Again, I am not sure what I lose when it expires. Will Google Maps still display on the upper screen via my cell phone connection?

If you are displaying maps and using map functionality from your phone, I doubt that will change. The phone is providing the functionality. The car has native Google Maps functionality built in that doesn’t require your phone. I think most of us believe this will continue to work as well, but with less functionality than it currently has. For example, the real-time traffic status (colors on the maps) and real-time notifications about police up ahead or objects in the road will likely stop working. But it’s a bit of a guess till some of us see what happens.

I have not seen much difference in maps between native Lincoln and Android Auto. The flaw with Lincoln google is that it is less flexible as my phone. I have apps on my phone (like a streaming station) that the Lincoln Play Store does not have.

So after thinking about this and the fact that I use Apple Car play. I'm expecting to lose the following features, unless I subscribe to Premium Connectivity.
  1. Google maps on the upper display. The question is, will the CarPlay map automatically replace it
  2. the clock with the day and date
  3. weather on the upper display
  4. Google commands to control the car Infotainment features
  5. Compass, not sure about how this?
  6. All apps from the Google store
For me the only things I really care about are Google maps with traffic and weather. I wonder how much revenue Ford expects to get from the service?

I do not think the widgets will affected but just a guess.
My assumption is that the widget real time data is provided by Google Android Automative via the built in AT&T connection because it does not require a cell phone to be connected.

I think we'll all have to wait and see. But I would think there's some level of connectivity that is maintained without the subscription. I think we just lose access to all the data gobbling services.

I used to work with the carriers as our product used data-only SIMs by the hundreds of thousands. The monthly fee was almost nothing. We just paid by the KB used.

I had looked at the features of the Lincoln Connectivity and it never mentions widgets so I am trying to be optimistic. I guess they would work like an unregistered new car on the lot.

Love the optimism and I hope you are correct. I assume the AT&T SIM in the cars are all activated when manufactured.
we will see in about 6 weeks when we all start getting disconnected
