I also am an active member on the 2 most popular BMW forums currently online. Hinckley is correct,
very few interface issues across the BMW model lines regardless of the year or mileage! They have software/hardware integration buttoned up very well.
BMW issues are mostly mechanical; cooling, use of plastics causing engine issues, and of late, the infamous VANOS bolt recall.
What differs is that BMW mechanical & maintenance issues crop up after 60k+miles of ownership....not out the dealership door! Folks that lease BMW's rarely experience problems, as they are returned way before these issues crop up! Our BMW was painless up until 65k miles or so.
The new Nautilus has many issues being reported right out of the dealership.
If you want an example of excessive new car issues being reported by owner's of another marque, visit the
Cadillac forums and check out the hardships they are experiencing with the Lyric!
I get Jacyte's point...complex systems....you have to expect growing pains, but when is enough enough? That is for the buyers and leaser's experiencing these issues to decide.
To excuse these issues as only being experienced by a few having them (and reporting them here), making the issues seem "amplified"....then I must ask what about the folks that have issues and are not reporting them anywhere online. They must be out there also!
I hope (and believe) Lincoln will put every effort into customer satisfaction and get these issues resolved sooner then later!
