2024 Lincoln Navigator tire problems

We have had many threads on here about those useless 22' wheels. Do a search. Simply get rid of them if you are having tire issues. These big heavy rigs need real tires underneath them, not tires with 3 inches of sidewall. They are trucks! Not toyotas. I immediately took those useless 22's off and put 20' wheels on mine with 10 ply tires that have almost 6" of sidewall. Rides and drives perfectly all day at 95 mph if you want, with 34 to 35 pounds air pressure. If you are only going back and forth to starbucks then happily keep your 22's on there.
And.... you can put 17's, 18's or 19's on there too. But the rims I wanted did not come in 17's that would clear the brake caliper. Ya gotta make sure everything clears if you go with some of the smaller wheels. You can get nice looking wheels and real tires at a Les Schwab tire store for $3,400 bucks that will work 100 times better than the $9,000 worth of wheels and tires that came stock on my Gator.
TrentM, Thanks for the input! We live 25 miles from the nearest town so virtually ALL my driving is highway driving. It’s encouraging to know there may actually be a fix for this issue (although Lincoln could fix it by focusing on quality of ride instead of aesthetics). BTW Method Race Wheels (methodracewheels.com) in CA have several nice-looking 17” wheels that will fit the Navigator. Of course they have 18s and up, as well.

I didn't mention my tires are all terrain.. not highway... and they work great! Yeah there are a lotta really nice wheels available these days and Method has a lotta great options fer sure. Black Rhino has a nice selection also. If you swap them out I am 99% sure you will not regret it! Good Luck!

Coincidently, I was thinking the same thing the other day on the subject of 17" wheels.

My '24 Navigator L has 'some' wheel vibration issues. I'm waiting on my first service appointment to address that and a couple other complaints since I currently have less than 2,000 miles. When I first got the vehicle I noted a vibration at highway speed and started taking mental notes. It has appeared to get better with time as it used to have vibrations at 60 to 70 mph. Now it's pretty smooth to 75 mph and definitely vibrates at 80 mph and above. I feel it comes from the front?

Anyways, with the asphalt minefields they call roads around here, I noticed something quite stark recently when I took my Raptor out for an errand and later that day happened to take the Navigator out for an almost identical trip. I'm not trying to compare the off-road capability of the Raptor to the Navigator but the result of the ride quality between the two couldn't have been more obvious. I can't help but believe the larger sidewall 315/70R17s on the Raptor compared to the 285/45R22s contributes a large portion of the experience. Not that any of that is relatable to wheel vibration on the highway, but still...

Well I have a Raptor also which I love and I will keep it until it falls into the ground. Gray Metallic.. Looks like yours! If you are taking long road trips, ya can't beat the Gator for comfort. We did a 30 day 9,000 round trip 1 1/2 years ago. We are headed out in April to do another 30 day trip that will be more miles than last time. The Gator makes it easy. But I cannot find fault with my Raptor. I am on my 3rd set of 35' 12.50 X17 all terrain tires and last year replaced the worn out Fox suspension with a $12,000 Icon Stage 3 Suspension. Went from 4 leaf springs to 8 springs plus bigger coil springs on the front end and a lotta of other upgrades. Unbelievable ride and handling. Our Navigators also need big side walled meaty tires... Plain and simple. Same as our Raptors. They are big heavy rock climbin', dune jumpin' & hard road trippin' trucks, and some of us use them for what they were made to do... Ya gotta have the correct tires and wheels that accommodate that.

I understand the idea of going to smaller rim will help, but I should not have to shell out more money to improve the ride quality of a 100k+ car. The engineers set up the car for 20-22" rims, it should ride like a 100k luxury vehicle. I've test drove Yukons (22-24" rims) and Escalades (22-24" rims) and those rides on the highway are significantly better. And I'll be honest, I'm a concrete jungle tamer so I highly doubt I'll take my Navi off-roading... I shouldn't have to set it up for that. If I want an off roader, I'll buy a used truck for 60% less and have fun.

I wonder what happened to KenKei - maybe Ford had him sign a NDA to fix whatever was wrong.

A side note to all - as you know by my writings above I am experiencing a vibration from somewhere - but definitely tire/wheel/suspension based. Regarding the actual wheel hypothesis… could be - however… I have 24” Niche wheels with General 305x45x24 ? (I believe ) and I have that vibration. Could be coincidental … maybe ? But I still do not have my truck back to verify the dealer (Planet Lincoln/Love Field) supposed fix. I was told it was. But I wil only believe it when I drive it.
Stay tuned and please - keep the postings coming! Good info here
Good to know thanks, im hoping it is in coincidental

Has anyone tried replacing the factory rims (mine are 22”) with smaller ones - say 17s? I have friends in the racing world who say this is the only sure fix - that the suspension on these vehicles needs more sidewall than what is on a 22” tire. Just curious …
These definetly ride harsher than you would expect on the higher premium rims, there is another thread in here with people changing the sidewall size and improving the ride quality. Unfortunately its a matter of 2 seperate issues, less ideal tire config for ride quality and then the actual vibration.

So as an update I am scheduled to go to the dealer on Saterday and test drive some other navs- if switching the wheels actually does the trick they will let me keep the tires/rims that work.

Im purposely starting out with stock R476 at irwin lincoln because its still 22" but on reserve trim and also with black coating. I beleive the tire brand is different but ill confirm when i get there. If that doesnt work then im going to go to base trim and lower Inch rims with bigger sidewall. ill be sure to update here afterward with final result.

I agree it is disappointing to have these frustrating issues with a $110,000 vehicle. All aspects of said vehicle should be perfect. But I think that some manufacturers now look at form over function. The factory wheels that came on my Gator were sure pretty! And at a cost of $1,800 EACH!!! they should be! They were actually a work of art! But certainly not functional for my needs. The crappy 4 ply bottom end Hankook tires { another $300 each } made it even worse. I bought my Gator in Naples Florida on a whim, canceled our flights, and drove it home to Idaho. I have never had a vehicle with 3.5" sidewall tires before, and by the time I crossed the Texas border I was non stop complaining to my poor wife that these pieces of crap tires are coming off of here the minute we get home. And that happened in two days after driving 3,100 miles in 4 days of road proven inferior ride and handling. The difference was very noticeable immediately. So,,, I am no expert, but lets face it.... The vast majority of vehicle owners have no idea or, don't care how, or in what way their vehicle should or should not ride, handle, and drive. But man, look at my new pretty wheels! No vehicle is perfect... I can tell you a coupla things I am not happy with on my Raptor too. Ya just fix things how you want them because the dealer will only do so much. I will be curious to see how your experience with swapping different factory wheels and tires works out! Please keep us updated!

Absolutely will, hoping the swap is the solution

Follow up on my tires. I have Pirellis...

Went to swap mine back to the OEM Scorpion Verdes over the weekend. Left the dealer and immediately noticed they rode worse than the AS Plus 3 I had on previously. So went back to dealer, swapped off the Verdes and put back on the AS Plus. Service Advisor rode with me and we both agreed the ride was much better with the AS plus on. He even made a comment that it felt better than the OEM Verdes. So I ended sticking with the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 tires. Longer treadwear and warranty from Pirelli at the cost of minimal road noise increase.

I'll adjust my PSI over the next few days to try and find a sweet spot.

Also - FWIW my SA said even though the Verdes have an option of the PNCS (acoustic foam) that the original and my replacement Verdes did not have foam. So ultimately who fkn knows what to expect.

Please keep us updated on the findings by the field service advisor. good luck!
So here's the update as of 2/24/25. They kept my vehicle for 6 days. Based on my Lincoln app it was driven 3 miles during the 1st two days when the engineer was supposed to show up. There is no way to get to highway where you can do 70 mph in 3 miles but I guess I'll have to go with what the dealership is telling me. The dealership said that the Ford engineer said there was nothing wrong with my vehicle. I asked for the Road Force numbers and they said that they can't print them out from the machine and don't keep those numbers written down. They said it was "within normal limits" They told me to pick up my vehicle on 2/20/25. I asked if they'd fixed the HomeLink visor and the 3 prong plug and they said, "No." I explained this was the 3rd time the vehicle had been in the shop with those issues so they kept it 4 more days and called me this morning and told me I could pick up my car. When I picked it up I asked if they had replaced the visor and fixed the plug and they said, "No, the engineer checked them out and they were fine." I explained again that they had sent a service agent out to my house who spent 90 minutes trying to connect my HomeLink to my garage door opener and gate opener and was unsuccessful after I had spent 60 minutes trying to do it myself. The service agent at the house had said the HomeLink visor was broken. Guess they're sending someone out again to try to connect my HomeLink.

Here's the summary of what I know. I've driven two loaners since I purchased my lemon and they BOTH have the same issue...significant vibration through the driver's side seat and steering wheel at 75+ mph. Planet Lincoln has not fixed the problem after 6 visits and 10 days without my vehicle in the last two months. A friend of the family who is a mechanical engineer said this is not a tire or wheel issue as the vibrations are coming through the seat as well as the steering wheel. He thinks its a drive train or motor mount issue. I went to the doctors and he diagnosed new onset carpal tunnel syndrome secondary to excessive vibration. Encouraged me to get a steroid shot into my hand. He warned me about progressive worsening and the possible need for surgery in the future. Ford Legal has not weighed in and told me what they are going to do about my lemon. The State of Texas Department of Motor Vehicles has sent me acknowledgement of my filing. They too are going to have to wait on Ford Legal's response. It does seem like we've got more identified owners with the exact same problem. I'm guessing we're pretty close to the correct number for a class action lawsuit since it doesn't appear that any of the dealerships have resolved the issue with the seat and steering wheel vibration.

Kenkei glad to hear back and sorry to hear even having an escaleted tech review did not resolve. It looks like the big update to come next is from me when I trial out a few navigators with different wheels to trial on mine- if they dont vibrate. To add a few points to your experience it seems common that lincoln service is not addressing other problems- my car still has 2 seat issues and a usb issue all remain unresolved after 3 visits. Also my lincoln dealership puts the RF results on the work order so if yours is not its just another example of tech/sa laziness.

Also- only 3 miles is ridiculous. Every time I drop the car off I mark how many miles they have it at on site and then check my app to see what kind of actual road testing they are doing. I even screenshot the first day its there so I can benchmark from there. On this 3rd visit I can tell they are actually driving with 50 miles or so being put on it since they had it. I encourage everyone to do the same bc.

Good to hear back from you, however the lack of resolution and denial is insane on Lincolns end. Makes me happy I did not purchase from Planet Lincoln (I'm at David McDavid) but for you to find 3 cars with the vibration issues is absolutely unacceptable for a car this expensive. I think we made a decision to hold onto ours for now and see how it goes for a year or so. I hope you get a resolution regarding the Lemon Law, and if needed since I'm local with you I'd be more than happy to help out in any way that I can.

I'm here. I posted yesterday.
Yea I saw your post, see above to my response. I will say the highways around DFW are horrible. I've found a few roads that are asphalt and the difference in ride is night and day. Sadly we can't avoid the concrete jungle roads here.

Ill be flying into DFW this upcoming for a conference this week and renting a Gwagon- real curious how bad the roads are compared to here in NJ/NY. Guess well have a contest, ill report back on my findings lol.

It's not bad like potholes everywhere bad - its the concrete sections shift and cause slight changes in the roads, concrete resonates noise more, super hard on the tires, etc... Some interstates though have crazy potholes. Like rim bending, flat tire inducing potholes you have to watch out for.

Gotcha, cant wait to check it out and compare. I remember one year during the winter in Queens NY I counted 23 cars on the shoulder that had bent rims from the potholes. As a side bar the reason why im renting the G is because if the swap of tires test doesnt work im going to recourse through buyback or lemon law and possibly get a used one of those if I end up liking it.

I'm going back to an Escalade when the LemonLaw buy back goes through. It was a dream for 7 yrs. It got stolen and when they hot-wired my car, the electronics didn't work after that. I could've driven it another 150,000 miles. Lincoln lured me in with 0% financing. I won't be tricked again.
