2022 Navigator

Thanks bbf and everyone else too! This forum is awesome and I can see why the community has such a great reputation.

I was able to find someone (not local) who is willing to do true invoice pricing. I am getting a proposal from him later today and then I will crunch the numbers with the MF/RV I have for July. As for delivery, my local dealership is telling me 4-5 months and this other non-local dealer is telling me 3-4 months. So it *seems* to be improving.

This is for a Navigator Reserve, Standard Wheelbase, 4WD by the way.
Don't keep that dealer all to yourself. Who is doing invoice pricing right now?

Hi ksh. That's great! Just some more endless advice...lol: If the Dealer is telling you they will give you "Invoice Pricing", make sure they show you the original copy of the Invoice. Not handwritten numbers/figures. There is absolutely no reason they can not show the original copy to you.

And do not let them try to slip in a high "Documentation Fee", "Administrative Fee" or other ridiculous charges to make up for a seemingly good vehicle price.

Keep us updated and good luck. 🍻

Thanks bbf! I seriously appreciate all the advice, I would probably screw it up if I tried to figure it out myself!

I will be sure to review the invoice as well as the whole contract to make sure there's nothing funny going on with additional fees, the MF, RV, etc.

@Black Label Once I get everything set, I'll send you the dealer's name. Just need to make sure it actually is, you know, invoice pricing lol!

So I got a text from the dealer. This is what he said.

"MSRP: $98,460. Sale price : $92,984. 48 months, 10,500 miles per year. Monthly Payment: $1,258. Due at signing: Tax, fees, 1st month, and DMV."

He's sending me the paperwork tomorrow. I used Edmunds to check the MF/RV for July. It's 3.97% APR and 46% RV for my zipcode and model/lease terms/etc. According to the Edmunds Lease Calculator, I'm getting $1,244 with a $645 acquisition fee, $155 title fee and $151 registration fee. So it seems pretty legit.

Let me know if I'm missing anything.

Hi ksh. You are leasing? Oh jeez...that's a whole other ballgame.

So you are paying $60,384 + taxes, fees, registration etc., for something you will not own at the end of those 4 years. That is $60,384+ which simply disappears at the end of 4 years, unless you buy it.

I will leave it for others to give you advice from here on, because I generally do not recommend leasing to anyone, unless they can write it off as a business expense. In my opinion...In addition to the long term costs of essentially renting a vehicle year after year after year, in perpetuity (unless you finally buy one), there are just too many ways for Dealers to play games with the costs/payments. Things like "acquisition fees", "capital cost reduction" (lol) etc etc.

What I will advise you on is...
Where is the copy of the original Dealer Invoice to verify their "Invoice Pricing"?
What Incentives are currently being offered by Lincoln on your vehicle?
If there are available Incentives, how are they calculated into the selling price? What is the interest rate on the loan/your payments?

Edmunds is fine, but you need the actual information from the Dealership.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Hi Action. Yes, there is more than one way to obtain an X-Plan PIN. There are the ways we mentioned already, such as: Obtaining an X-Plan PIN from a Ford Employee or being a Ford Partner Company Employee, which I mentioned.
Or membership in the LCOC, which you mentioned.

Then there is membership in the MCA (Mustang Club of America). Also an experimental model plane flying club whose name escapes me at the moment. And a few other "Clubs", etc. etc.
Owners of Ford stock also used to be able to obtain an X-Plan PIN, but that perk has been eliminated by Ford.

For those interested in joining the LCOC, MCA and other applicable clubs in order to obtain an X-Plan PIN...Keep in mind that there is normally a waiting period of at least 90 days after joining, before you can register for/obtain an X-Plan PIN.

Good luck.
There is also the Costco Auto Program for you members out there.

Hi chris. Yes, in addition to Ford X-Plan/Ford X-Plan Partner Recognition Program, there are also Costco, AAA, AARP and many other vehicle purchase plans, for those who happen to be members of those clubs/groups/plans.

In some cases, they may even offer slightly better pricing than X-Plan, if the Dealer is not charging an exorbitant "Documentation fee" (X-Plan caps the "Documentation Fee" at $100).

So it always helps to check for any/all benefits we may have with the various groups we may be a member of.

Also, everyone needs to keep in mind that Dealer acceptance of any/all of these pricing plans is at the discretion of individual Dealerships. They do not have to accept any type of plan purchase.

Good luck.

I can tell you that no Lincoln dealers in the Chicago area are doing the Costco program.

Thanks bbf!

I know a lot of people don't like leasing, but I do think it's dependent on each person's situation. My personal view is this: You'd pay a similar amount for 4 years anyway (probably more), but with a lease, you get the option to decide if you want to buy it. I haven't done the math for a Navigator, but it used to be pretty close on the BMWs that I used to lease (buy vs. lease cost, that is). So having the option is very valuable to me... plus time value of money and all that. (FWIW, this is going to replace a 2019 Volvo XC90 that we lease now. We're probably going to buy it out at the end of the lease so we can sell it b/c it's worth more than the buyout value lol!)

The second and biggest reason is that it's for my wife and she has car ADD. (I'm the opposite and I buy my cars these days.) But she 1) uses her car as the family car so it gets a lot of wear and tear with two toddlers, 2) wants something different every few years and 3) values being under warranty.

So for those reasons, leasing is a better option for my wife than buying. But obviously that'll differ by person!

Hi ksh. I understand completely. That was why I made it clear this was simply my somewhat educated opinion. ;)

The part I was more concerned about was that once leasing is involved, it becomes more difficult to offer accurate pricing information, due to the ability of unscrupulous Dealerships to play around with the figures (i.e the aforementioned "Acquisitions fees", "Cap Cost Reductions" etc.).

Keep us updated and good luck. 🍻

yup!

Leased BMWs for 15 years & Audis before that. Many that rag on leasing don't understand it, nor it's optionality and risk mitigation.

And with BMW and their RV/MFs, IMO, financially you were dumb to do anything else! Especially using multiple SDs to do a buy down.

But now all the numbers have changed, at least as of Q4 last year when I got an X5, so that's the first vehicle I haven't leased in I dunno how long ... probably 20 years!

I haven't checked the number for the Navigators, I just kinda assumed they'd be horrible, so your post is much appreciated!

Please let us know how your deal works out!

I am now scheduled for my specific build day, which is August 11th. I was told the build only takes two days and then it'll be shipped. Shipping is estimated to take 3-4 weeks. No massaging seats, 24 way instead of 30 way seats, and no park assist all due to chip shortages.

Hi Everyone,

Question to the folks who have a Black Label Navigator, Does yours comes with soft close door option? Can you add a picture from the door jam, if it is the latch in the door or the hook in the door jam.
In Canada, we don't get BL trim and kinda annoying to bang door left and right to close them.

Looks like the weather seal is too stiff.

No soft close doors nor window shade.

Oh wow! i thought we were the only ones in the Reserve line up.
Do you not have a brochure or copy of an order guide that indicates what features are included or optional?

For Reserve Trim only as that's the only trim available in Canada. Soft closing door was not an option on it.

Correct. No Navigators in the US have that feature either.

Just heard a voicemail from Westpoint Lincoln salesman in Houston, I guess he left it Wednesday. Says the 2023 books open Monday 08/15/2022, I know there have been post in the forum but since he took the time to call it seems even more official, I'll see in the morning. Wondering if it'll be added to the Lincoln website tomorrow?
