2022 Navigator

Anyone have any clue how long it takes for the Special Edition paint job after production? Ours was produced on 4/1 and released to Penske on 4/4.

Well, that is just the email from Lincoln. I bet mine is still in a parking lot at the Truck Plant, but who knows? I can bump my tracking thread in a couple days, but at this point, I expect it to show up at the dealer by the 15th.
Do you have any update? I think I speak for most of us when I say that we are all anxiously awaiting your upcoming arrival.

I’m not @Black Label obviously but ours were built within days of one another. Mine has yet to leave the plant. It shows awaiting shipment, convoy delay 🙄. 3.5 hrs from the plant and its been sitting there since 3/31 waiting to hitch a ride south. I hope our friend BL is having better luck w his

I finally got scheduled for build the week of June 13!
Jealous…I got an email last week just generally saying mine has been delayed (never had a build date). Pretty sure I’m going to end up with a 2024 at this rate. Wife is getting annoyed told me to go buy an Escalade. Ha

Been there done that. Escalades have a 4-5 month wait too

Hi bigzaj. Factory paint on new vehicles is already cured by the time it leaves the factory.

We only need to wait for the paint to cure before waxing/detailing etc. when we have had body and/or paint work performed on a vehicle.

If after-the-factory paint is what you are wondering about (I'm not sure what "Special Edition paint job" you are referring to), then wait times can vary according to who is performing the work. However, a minimum of 30 days is always recommended. And some body shops will say 60 days or more.

But new vehicle, factory paint is already cured before we ever get the vehicle in our hot little hands.

Good luck.

Lord only knows bc my dealer got on this week that was ordered and built after mine 🤪. As annoyed as I am, I think I would be more annoyed in your situation. Sooooo close but yet so far away haha. Keep us posted. We are all dying for someone to finally get one. I’m also looking forward to your thoughts on the new one vs your current one.

Just got an email with Build Week of a June 6th.

Interestingly enough I was told on blueovalforum that they would not build retail cars until they were able to
build navigators error free for 5 days straight. Allegedly that just happened which is why they are now building ordered cars. All I can say is YIKES and you should consider an extended warranty if it took them 3 months to build a flawless car.

Hi slingha. You misunderstood what "akirby" on BOF was stating, and came up with a 1+1=5 result.

"akirby" was merely explaining what the "OKTB" (Okay To Build) rule is at the beginning of a new model year production run. He was not stating that only Dealer orders were still being built, or that error free builds were still not happening at this point or sooner, or that Retail orders are not being built yet. In fact, Retail customer orders have already been delivered to customers, for vehicles less affected by pandemic induced parts shortages.

Bottom line is that Retail orders of 2022 Navigators been being produced for some time now. However there are many holds and short term assembly line shutdowns due to parts and commodity shortages. In addition, many "finished" vehicles are sitting in lots waiting for computer ships or other shortage parts, before they can be shipped out to Dealers for the ordering customers.

And Lincoln/Ford are not prioritizing Dealer stock orders ahead of Customer/Retail orders. Pandemic induced shortages have production in a mess for all automakers, not only Lincoln/Ford. So if a buyer can not wait until things settle down to order/buy a new vehicle, these problems are going to be frustrating but unavoidable.

Good luck.
