So i recently reserved a standard trim 2020 corsair from a third party dealer who's bought it from the ford/lincoln dealership directly (I've called and verified that the car is indeed brand new and purchased from them).
A few days ago i was there assessing the car. I pop open the hood and lo and behold the engine is without an appearance cover. The employees at the dealership claim they don't know how that is. I told them to open the hood of another 2020 standard corsair (which was already also sold) and i did infact see the cover there.
I did some digging around and saw some reviews on youtube. The 2021 corsairs (or at least some of the ones i saw reviews of) had no engine covers, yet aa of the 2020 reviews had them.
Any idea why this might be? I read on some forum somewhere that all corsairs produced after june 2020 came without the engine cover due to supply chain issues, but i wasn't able to verify that. If anyone has any idea/can point me to some official lincoln documentation as to why this may be, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

And we both like that engine cover!

Thanks, and I like to add some levity from time to time. Welcome.

I still am glad I added the cover for several reasons, not the least of which is the built-in mounting studs on the air intake manifold that were not removed along with the cover; meaning it's the "principle of it all." These parts may or may not fit the 2.3 and 2.5 engines, but they are the perfect parts for the 2021 2.0T Corsair.

When I consider the drive away price, these parts along with the package cover and rear cargo mat were reasonable add-ons that were not part of the model I selected. Also, the driver side all-weather mat was disappointing, and the few bucks for the superior WeatherTech mats were worth the price there too. WeatherTech covers all of the carpet under the accelerator pedal. Lincoln's more expensive mat did not, and I didn't want to keep using a so-called all-weather mat that would still allow the black carpet under the pedal to be stained with road salt and ice melt chemicals all winter. I had that on my last car, and it was disappointing.

Here is my post #107 on this thread from last May:

Finally found all parts for 2021 Corsair 2.0T Engine Cover 19 May 2021

NOTE: Please see attached drawings and pictures for reference

Nomenclature ____ Part Number ____ Drawing Callout

Engine Cover ____ K2GE-6A949-BD ____ 6A949

Stud – Threaded - Left Side ____ W714647 ____ HT2

Nut and Washer (Combined) ____ W520201-S450B ____ HN1

Stud - Ball – Right Side ____ 6N958 ____ 6N958

Sorry, this chart was not easy to format right. I've also attached the PDF document I drafted that looks easier to read.

Both studs are screwed into the brass fittings on the cylinder head cover as shown in the attachment and website.

My dealer sold me one of each rather than as packaged with multiple quantities. I haven't received the new threaded stud yet, so the only picture I have is of the ball stud installed directly in front of the electronic fuel pump with rubber cover. The nuts are expensive, but they have a plastic "lock" installed as well as the built-in washer all in one part. 3rd URL below will show an excellent view of the nut.

Eric, I used your very detailed information to order the parts for my 22. Thank you. My only complaint is the absurd prices for the mounting minute nuts/bolts.

Unfortunately, this won't apply to anyone with the larger 2.5 engine in the GT model. There isn't much room for a cover in my model anyway with the engine and the motor electronics jammed in there closely.

I've ordered the old MKZ (2.5L hybrid) engine cover and we'll see if it fits. Worth a shot and only risking $10-20 for return shipping if I'm wrong.
Nope. Didn’t fit. Still holding out hope to locate a cover (assuming another ford model uses the same hybrid 2.5 l engine)

Ok, I think I’ve found a “will fit” engine appearance cover for the GT’s 2.5L Atkinson hybrid ICE. It won’t say Lincoln, but the photo of the engine in the 2020 Escape Hybrid and added studs looks exactly like mine.

Thoughts? (about likelihood it will fit, not that it is a waste of $120)

I don't have thoughts on whether it will fit or not, but wondering if it will be effective in reducing engine noise

Are you thinking that would be a better sound deadening route then adding additional sound proofing mat to the hood itself?

It is an big insulated piece of plastic. I think it deadens sound a bit. On start up or idling, I don't hear the engine at all. Sometimes I wonder if it's started or running at a stop. I usually turn off the start/stop option.
Engine idling could have been the same without the cover but I don't remember. In any case, the underhood looks much nicer and the engine components under the cover stay cleaner. I'm very happy with the cover.

No, to me an "appearance cover" will be just that - improve appearance. Showing off the car it strikes me as "unfinished" so for me it's akin to adding a bow tie to a tuxedo or a cherry to a sundae. If it also redirects some engine sound away from the cabin, all the better. I finish a hand washing by raising the hood and wiping dust off flat surfaces so this will give me something flat to keep clean. The cover and mounts should arrive early this week and if it fits, I'll post confirmation should other OCD'ers like myself be interested.

Based on my older Navigator I would agree to the above.
I bought it used and the engine cover was missing. That did not work for me.
I bought a replacement cover, and it covers the entire top of the engine. Spans the area from the cowl to the radiator core support. Does have foam on the under side. The sound reduction was not noticeable. There are times I do not hear the engine and times I do. And in my opinion there was no difference with or without the cover.

But the engine compartment looks a lot better in my opinion
