2018 Navigator - Reserve trim - Aftermarket rear seat entertainment suggestions?

Do you have any info on the console mounted DVD touchscreen? On a side note, the Voxx manufacture (second screen you posted) also makes the OEM system. Voxx actually has a custom hardware to mount their screens to our Navigator seats. Best part about those screens is the built in FM modulator, dvd playback, app support(Netflix) and phone control which solves all of the issues with the OEM system.

I'm going to have this installed in our Navigator in mid-February ... will let you guys know how it works!

I had this system installed in our Navigator and it looks super close (exact?) to the OEM Lincoln Play. Functionally it is SO SO much better. I'm not finding anything to complain about as it is right now. FM transmitter works well for when you want sound in the cabin. DVD player included. Touch screen. You can't wirelessly stream with an Apple Device but I believe you can with Android (it's an Android based system). You would just need to connect an Apple Device via HDMI.

You can use Google Play to download more apps. We have YouTube Kids and Amazon Prime now installed and all work well. Netflix and Disney+ were pre-installed.

You can download an app for your phone that allows you to control the screen from your phone (basically mirrors it) and it works well too. I've only had it for one day, but so far so good.

I guess my only concerns (like the OEM) is that it kind of protrudes out into the seating area, but it doesn't seem like a problem so far.

Hey, thanks for the update. Any chance that you could post some photos? I would like to see how the mount looks and how it protrudes.

Did you used to have an OEM system? If so did you need new seat backs to cover up the old mounting points? Can you provide a video of the system functioning? How much did it all cost to install? Did you have to run all new wiring?

I still want to do it but didn’t want to be the first lol really glad it all worked out for you!

I intentionally did not order the RSES from the factory due to complaints I read on here. The place I took it to ran all new wires, etc. They did a great job as it looks like factory. The bracket goes where the metal break in the seat lies.

I did find a problem with the system -- it's just a DVD and NOT a Blu-Ray player. With kids' DVDs they tend to come in normal format along with the Blu Ray, but be warned if you have a bunch of Blu Rays you may want to play. Not a huge deal to us as we'll be streaming moreso, but wanted to note that. I will try and put up a video sometime in the next week or so!

It was expensive ... like $2600 or so.

I will get some pictures and a video in the next week or so. It protrudes about exactly like the OEM Lincoln Play does.

good point about the Blu-ray I missed that all together in my research. But I think a workaround is to convert your Blu-rays to a data memory stick and then just watch them off the memory stick. Easier to manage them that way.

looking forward to your videos and photos of the upgrade can’t wait it may have re-inspired me to get mine done. But I won’t pay the 2600 ha ha ha ha I’ll do the install myself.

thanks

Ya I wouldn't pay that either if I could get it done. I think the brackets alone were $300 ... lots of labor there ... fleeceing

So true. When I saw they wanted 150 each for those brackets I just gave up on the project. Not that I can’t afford the money but like you said I don’t appreciate the fleecing

Husker, I did a little mort research looking for the mounting hardware and ran across the attached photo of what they are calling Sbk-linc mount bracket For 2018 and up Lincoln Navigator. It does not look like when I expected to see for the navigator seat. Can you see this mount bracket in any way shape or form being used in your install? If this is the correct bracket, it’s way reduced in price from what I originally saw. They are selling the pair for $129. Please let us know if they look correct

thanks

Here are a few pics ... sorry no video yet. I am chasing kids and just posting these quick. I might have a problem with the system disconnecting from WiFi intermittently. It could be something with my phone as I'm just using my phone as a hotspot. Trying to avoid the AT&T $20/mo charge. I will be going on a road trip this weekend so should have more to report!

I bet those are right as it's the same mount name I'm seeing on this page (?).

Thank you for taking all the time to share your photos. Install looks nice.

I should note that the app for your phone makes the phone mirror EXACTLY the screen on the RSES. It works instantaneously and smoothly. Excellent option for those of us with younger kids!

Sweet. Thanks again for the video and the other photos.

Short video of the system ...
Awesome video!! I highly recommend the ATT in vehicle WiFi, give it a shot during your upcoming road trip vacation. I find it works signifcantly better then iphone hotspots and I gave it the same SSID and password as our in home router so all our devices automatically connect while in the car. It’s also a huge plus if ATT is not your cell provider because it’s just additional coverage while your on the road.

That's good to hear. My wife is having a fit over $20/month after spending over $90k for the vehicle.

Good idea on the SSID and password. I hadn't thought of that. I just named it Navigator and a password.

My wife did at first too, now she talks crap when she gets in my BMW because I haven’t set it up with in car WiFi lol. Have her try it for a month.
