I just purchased my 14 MKS two days ago. My wife and I love everything about this car.I has 108k on the odo, I am second owner, no accidents. The car maintained meticulously! All recods are in the car and on Carfax. It was never driven north of SC. Yesterday am as I was driving along, first I hear the ping tone every second, coming fom the climat control system and I see the temp climbing into the 80's as the fan speed increases! I was able to bring it under control by mashing the max a/c button on the screen, then the off button for the whole system. A minute later it turned itself on and went through the same process. After that, when the engine was at normal operating temp, the system returned to normal and has not recurred. I have located several instances on You Tube, where backyard mechanics take the entire dash apart, locate and replace a computer module for the climate control system. I purchas the car at a fair price from a used car dealer with a great reputation for identifing and providing clean used vehicles. They know nothing about this problem but are willing to tackle it in an effort to correct the problem. I also purchased a 3 year protection plan, unlimited mileage and the brochure says this component is covered. The ink is not dry on the contract, the CU has not yet funded the deal, my $5k down payment check has not yet cleared the bank! My dilemma is, since the car is acting normally at the moment, do I take a flyer and hope it is not going to blow up into a recurring issue that makes the car inoperable with no climate control in this Carolina heat! Does anybody on this forum know if this a major issue wit all MKS models or, if there is a clear fix for the problem. Any and all guidance appreciated. Lumberjack
