2010 Lincoln Town Car Trunk Lid problems

Thank you all.
I gave up!
I disconnected all the wiring that has anything to do with the trunk and now use only the key for trunk lid operation.
The problem with that is the warning light signifying the trunk is ajar appears on the dashboard, where all the messages appear.

I solved this problem today on my 2011 Town Car by erasing the U1041 code "Missing Data from Vehicle Speed Sensor" Evidently the speed sensor plays a role in the functionality of the liftgate.

I downloaded Forscan Lite to an android phone and used the Vgate vLinker OBD2 plug to read/erase the code. I'm not sure what caused the speed sensor fault but there was freezing rain the day the trunk stopped working.

Hope this helps someone, I did not find this solution in any of my searches.

Not sure about sedans (Town Car) on my SUV the liftgate opening function is disabled when vehicle is moving. I would have that that might be controlled by the transmission range selector.

Welcome to the Forum.

Unfortunately Town2010car joined on 23 March 2018 and last visited on 24 March 2018. So s/he never updated us with a resolution, somewhat typical I'm sorry to say.

Did you try manually closing the latch with a screwdriver blade? Sometimes it is best to start a new thread with your symptoms and see what happens. It can get confusing when a number of seemingly similar problems are documented in one thread.

Good luck.
So what is the repair? I'm having that problem right now?
