2007 Town Car THX with Navigation Radio Wiring Diagram

Hey @alumarine , last night I finally finished wiring up my stereo and had a chance to power everything on. Long story short, I have several items not working, but most significantly is no sound at all.

When I get off later today I am going to start troubleshooting, but I wondered if you encountered any issues with the amplifier not turning on or something like that when you did your install.

I have what should be 5v going to the Pin 9 as you describe, but that is one thing I need to actually check is working.

Was your system off immidietely prior to disasembling it? Did you have any fuses blow?
Hi Higwaystar,

I don't know what you mean by "Was your system off immidietely prior to disasembling it?"

Mine worked right after the install and I didn't blow any fuses.

Did you configure your new head unit for RCA Output instead of Speaker Output?

I meant was the radio on when you last switched the ignition off or not.

I did configure for RCA speaker output.

I did call Crutchfeild since I mad that post, I think I found the issue, but I will confirm once I have had time for rewiring. Thanks for the input !

Greetings,

I have a 2007 sig limited

It has the regular 6 cd radio.

I wanted the thx however it was $4000 add on.

I want to upgrade mine and was trying to find the items to piece together.

What I do not understand is why you all don't want the thx unit.

Its a pioneer correct?

What are you upgrading
to?

I'll start by saying that I don't have a THX unit but I have seen enough posts to point out some things.

For starters, those navigation units are seriously outdated now even compared to lower priced double din units.

The wiring for those system is different and seemingly more complex.

The CD changer goes out.

I think in almost every way, a modern unit with Apple car play or Android auto is better than the THX navigation system.

I upgraded to the Alpine ILX-650, it's pretty much the cheapest unit that had Android Auto when I bought it a few years ago. It's "ok" but not amazing.

The factory navigation system, even the one the year before THX which I suspect was not much different, was actually a really nice and pleasant to use unit with a few exceptions just from the era of tech it's from. But actually navigating, it's pretty darn good. I still use it now and again (on roads old enough to be in the database) just for kicks. The controls on screen are a good size and very legible and the color scheme matches the interior of the car. I like mine enough that I've put off replacing it despite being a bit of an audio buff. Its issues are the obvious out of date-ness of the maps and despite being made by Pioneer it's limited audio quality wise. Unknown how much of that is the amplifier and how much the headunit. And the internal cd changer craps out, I suspect I can fix that but was really hoping to find a spare unit to work on instead of the one in my car, but I haven't seen one I'm willing to spend that much money on yet when I know good and well next to nobody wants them. I added an inline FM bluetooth unit that's hidden out of sight that works fairly well though its volume is a little low, I suspect it's the output of the bluetooth unit but otherwise it's quite good.

I've looked and looked and I can't find an aftermarket unit, that I'm willing to pay for meaning in the 350 range, that isn't either butt ugly or lacking in features or some other sufficiently annoying flaw. Can't bring myself to spend a grand on a radio at my age, and even then it's still to find everything as I prefer it. I have other unkind things to say about the car audio industry vs what it was 15 or 20 years ago that I'll spare you all.

Bumping this thread with a new follow up question.

I have the THX navigation radio 6 CD changer and I recently had it repaired (CDs were stuck and the flip down screen was wonky) by a 3rd party company, so the radio is good as new.

I still have the factory amp and the factory sub in the rear. All 4 door speakers have been replaced with aftermarket ones.

I'm using an external Android Auto screen that connects wirelessly to my phone and the screen comes with a FM bluetooth transmitter which I tune to 107.3FM to stream the audio from my phone. It sounds great with the new aftermarket speakers, but I kind of want to add a more powerful 5 channel amplifier to play the music even louder.

Has anyone kept their factory THX radio and only added a newer, more powerful amp in the trunk?

I just installed back into my Designer the THX radio.Everything is stock after I repaired the hack that cut and thrown the connectors and radio, it's not the factory Town Car color bezel it works as it should and it came out of a 2006 Lincoln Navigator.Good luck on your search I might think of updating the amp too.

Not that this will help since im so late to the game. But i found just getting the audio sent through fairly easy... My iso harness to the factory harness gave me all the power n grounds needed but no audio went through. So on the small plug with i believe like 4 wires in it. I cut the purple tinted wire with a stripe and connected my remote turn on wire and viola.. easy peezy unplug your battery first.. don't do like i did and blow 30 fuses

The THX/NAV radio does not a 4 wire connector,I don't know if that method would work.

I was in Walmart the other day and I saw that they had a 4 plug connector to adapt to a aftermarket stereo,I wonder if this would work with THX-NAV??
