We took our 2025 Aviator to Lincoln for software update. That evening we discovered the Welcome Lighting no longer works. Center consoles shows that function is available and turned on, but not working at all. How do we get that function back working??? Thanks

Hi linavia2025. Which part of the Welcome Lighting are you referring to?

If you are referring to the Lincoln Welcome Mat/Puddle Lights, are your Auto-Folding mirrors enabled? Those lights only operate when the mirrors are folded.

I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.

Hello and thank you for your reply. Actually what I am referring to when you are within 5 feet of the car with your keys, all the external lights come from the back of the car to the front. The headlights actually dance a bit again as I am approaching the locked car.

This feature happened everytime I approached the car up until I recieved the software update 2 days ago. Just trying to find out how to get function. Thank again

An update on my 2025 Aviator "Welcome/Embrace" problem. As of June 10, 2025 (8 days ago) the dealership still has my car with no foreseeable fix. The Embrace function worked successfully prior to the Lincoln requested Software Update. Not sure why they cant do a software restore back to the older version that was working. I am driving a 2022 loaner car from Lincoln that has a working Embrace function. Why is it so difficult to fix a problem that works for all other vehicles and once worked for the 2025 Aviator that I only had for 4 months. Please someone tell me something. Fyi I only have the aviator because I had to do a buyback on a 2024 Nautilus as it completely fit the Lemon Law. I dont want to have to go through that again....PS.. I have heard absolutely nothing from Lincoln regarding this situation.

I would take it to the dealership.
I appreciate your response, but my car is and has been at the dealership since June 10th, (a little over a week) for a problem that was created when they ran the software upgrade they requested us to do. The same dealership that ran the software upgrade that stopped the Embrace from working. My lights work once the car is turned on, but not before as they once did and should be doing now. Thanks again for your reply.

When I got my 2025 Aviator, the Embrace lighting didn't work. Apparently, there were many other 2025 models in the same situation. After several attempted fixes, they were finally able to get the Embrace feature working. My Aviator completed an over-the-air software update a few days ago and everything is still functioning.
BTW, after they managed to get the Embrace feature working, it seems the activation range has increased to 20+ feet.

Thinking from just a software update perspective, something either didn’t install properly (or update properly). These software updates with modern vehicles can get glitchy sometimes. We had a problem with a 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk software update. It took a few visits and “re-updates/re-installs” for the dealership to get locks, lights, etc to work again. It was a headache…although once fixed, remained fixed.

At least with us on that vehicle, part of the problem is the techs are not software people. Not like an IT person comes in and takes care of an issue. So I think that adds to the wonky nature of getting something like that rectified, even though looking in from the outside it seems like it should be quick, easy…and frankly not a problem in the first place.

Has the dealership been able to provide any updates to you?

Hi, as of July 5, 2025, my car is still at the dealership. They have finally reached out to us the last week of June, but only to let us know that the difference fixes they had tried have all failed. So we have not had our car now for 1 month today for what I assumed would be a quick fix since they should be just repairing what was a software upgrade glitch. I agree that the problem is that they are having mechanical and electrical technicians trying to troubleshoot and fix software programming problems. Thanks for your replies.

Pulling for you. What a frustrating experience. I guess it’s time to update the saying: “How many Lincoln technicians does it take to update the software on an Aviator?”

No techs were involved in my latest update. It occurrred seamlessly overnight a few weeks ago.

Hi,
I'm new here and to Lincoln ownership. I'm currently experiencing the same issue as the OP. I would be very interested if anyone has solved this on their vehicle.

Thanks,
Steve
Welcome to the Forum, Steve. 👋
Did you take it to the dealer for the update or was it done over the air? Have you spoken to the dealership about the issue?

I had taken it to a dealer for a unrelated issue. The ticket indicated they updated bcm and abs modules and cleared the codes. codes. The welcome lights have not worked since that service. I did mention the Embrace welcome light issue in a separate shop visit to replace a defective chrome trim piece. They indicated they were not able to resolve it but I should book a appointment specifically for this issue. The dealer a a little over an hour away and I haven't been able to return.

Have a look at my post here; 2025 Aviator How to Activate "Embrace" Entry?
SSM-53351.fixed it.

I wish to unfortunately opine with a lesson I've learned in the last decade or so... IT sucks in these United States these days. The Ford/Lincoln brands do not seem to be any less problematic in this decree.

My bud's wife (who was an IT professional) just went through a few months of issues on her 2023 Dodge Ram pickup where a glitch in one of the modules (can't remember which one) would kill the battery. The local dealership, purportedly directed by Stellantis back office engineering, kept doing the poke and hope approach swapping out or flashing module after module. I think it may have been the 'door control module' (don't get me started about the same issue at my dealership on another DCM Aviator problem that delayed MY car's fix for dead batteries!). Finally the faulty module was replaced and she can drive her car anywhere without worrying if she'll be able to restart it.

I try and lower my expectations every day, but it's quite challenging to this retired Nuclear Power engineer.

Good luck, don't let them off the hook. Hopefully for them the pain that you still have a loaner may motivate them more.
