Open Letter to Lincoln - How I'd Improve the Nautilus

Initially when I got the Nauti, I was wondering if the long buttons in center console were rockers...sorta like horizontal switches with center pivot Left is off, right is ON. I am not sure why they are so long or than styling. I have a Samsung tv remote that has thin buttons that is a rocker (channel and volume) but too rocker against short dimension so NOT easy to use.

On the 11.5” display, there should be an option to pin the HVAC controls to the top or the bottom of the screen. Because that screen is a secondary screen, it’s set lower than on most cars, and the bottom pinned HVAC controls means the driver really has to take his or her eyes off the road to access them. Having an option to pin those controls to the top of the screen would be easier and safer for the driver.

How about a built in Radar Detector, seems useful???
My only complaint as a new Nautilus owner is that my Radar detector (mounted under the Rear-View Mirror, has a cord that hangs down and stretches across to the lighter plug near the center arm-rest console and the cord looks unsightly and gets in the way of me shutting my sliding console cover. It would be nice if there was a plug up near the rear-view mirror that I could plug my Radar detector into to eliminate the cord hanging down and laying across the center console.

Lincoln executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

This discussion will serve as a quick and easy way for Lincoln executives to gauge interest and help make decisions moving forward.

As a Nautilus driver, you should state exactly what you'd like to see enhanced, added, and/or omitted from your Lincoln Nautilus.

Any posts that don't stick to the subject matter will be moved elsewhere.
Duplicate post

Don’t do that unless you want to turn it into a Hyundai (aka, garage fire. Haha).

It is blowing for a reason, probably a short in wiring, and if you bump the amperage of the fuse you won’t fix it but you will probably end up with overheated wiring in your door.

Thanks JMAB! I am aware of that; I was just wondering if anybody actually read these.
But my point is that the dealership could not replicate the issue, and I have been having to replace the fuse often. And the car is no longer under warranty.
Thanks again for your reply,
MP

I live in the desert where it reaches 108 in the summer and I wish there was a way to set my HVAC unit to circulate air as a default setting. Every single time I get into the car I have to manually go to the secondary screen and manually change the off-body to circulate on both sides of the car. It would make my life so much easier if I could train my Nautilus to keep this setting as a memory setting so I don't have to constantly manually change this each and every time I use the car.

Poor Virginia, Mississippi and DC owners would not be able to register the car lol.
They could still pull this off by using geo-location and if you are in either of those few states it simply would be disabled and re-enable once out of those states. Location sharing would allow the car to know it is in one of those states.

Better information on software. The my lincoln section of the website only discusses SYNC4 and not up to date on Google, etc.

Since my last new car was 2009, I have no idea on fobs, but my 2024 Nautilus fob has a metal face with recessed characters so at least the lettering will not wear off but it is heavy.

They do get beat up a bit. I keep mine in a silicone case. My 2011 was pretty beat up after 8 years. My 2019 was always in the silicone case and looked brand new. I swapped the case onto my 2024 key.
Only problem is it as a little bit more bulk and if you keep it in your pocket it will pull your pocket inside out when you take it out.

The Phone As A Key (PAAK) feature lets you do everything the fob does without having the fob on your person. You just have to have your phone on you and the car detects your phone and operates as if you had the fob.

Phone as key works fairly well other than the memory seat glitch but unless you allow background app refresh at the expense of significant battery usage you will need to open the app each time. Many of us need to carry keys anyway so adding the fob to the keychain is no big deal. I use phone as key when I need to make a quick run and don’t have my keys on me or just need to back the car out of the garage.

I have had my hybrid for four months and I love it. The styling, technology, and fit and finish are excellent. My biggest gripe is the lack of customization of the adaptive suspension.

In NORMAL mode, I enjoy the sense of gliding at high speed, but at low speeds around town, the rear end BOUNCE isn’t comfortable. Two or three oscillations aren’t unusual. The front and rear body motions have a seesaw effect. Some passengers have commented.

EXCITE mode tightens everything up considerably but to a fault if you stay in EXCITE mode. The throttle and suspension response gets tiring for routine use. I wish there were further customization with this advanced suspension system.

The memory seat glitch occurs only if you've linked the PAAK (or the fob) to a profile, so I think that's a profile-linkage issue, not a PAAK issue. I only carry the fob if I know I'm valeting the car and I don't keep the Lincoln Way app open. PAAK works pretty flawlessly for me. The only "problem" that I occasionally encounter is that, if the car's gone into deep sleep, Lincoln Embrace may not recognize the PAAK as I approach. In that case, it takes two presses of the door handle button, rather than one, to open the door.

I hate the piano keys. It was almost a deal-breaker for me. You should not have to look down to shift gears. But those keys have become a signature design element for Lincoln, so I don't think there's much of a chance of them changing.
You are absolutely correct. I have two Lincolns with the piano keys and I hate both. I have back up twice attempting to hit the parking key.

An even better option would be to return to manual controls, including the vents.

Like the piano keys, I don't think that there's much chance of the return of physical controls. However, I think that at least one manufacturer - Porsche - did retreat on their version of electronically controlled air vents.

A big improvement would be an adjustment to brighten the back lights to the 48in display instrument panel. In the bright Fla sun the glare makes it almost impossible to see easily. Also why not head up display?
