Remote Features Disabled message

I’ve had my new Corsair for just over a month now, and today I am getting ‘Remote Features Disabled To Preserve Battery’ message on my phone with the Lincoln app. I last drove it Friday, and I only have 197 miles on it. I got this same message last Friday as well and the last time I drove it before then was just a few days before. I don’t understand it. The weather’s been fine (above freezing) … could it be WiFi related at all? Should I turn off WiFi in the car so that it’s maybe not trying to connect to my home network? Anything bad if I do that? I think it also did this one other time earlier in the month.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and potential fixes. Thanks.

You may already need a new battery, or have a parasitic drain. Do you know if your Corsair sat a long time, after being built, before it was shipped or bought? The dealership can test the battery and replace it under warranty if needed.

I don't know if turning off the WiFi will help.

May be bad battery but doesn't sound like enough miles to keep battery charged. If GT, keep it plugged in; if not a GT, get a trickle charger.

I'm not sure if it sat a long time or not. I know it was built in early October, and I bought it in mid-February. My friend suggested turning off wifi - but wasn't sure if anyone found that to be an issue at all in these cars.

That's the only negative message I am getting thru the app. I do get occasional software updates installed messages. I do open the app a lot though ... I wonder if that causes battery drain doing that? If it's pinging the car each time I open it?

It's not a GT (gas engine only). I was wondering if my miles are still too low to keep it charged. Was thinking about going on a very long drive and see if that helps at all. I don't have access to an electrical outlet where it's parked.

So it sounds like it's not a common problem, which is good. Hopefully just a bad battery (fingers crossed).

Very common issue with Ford products. There are numerous threads pertaining to this. I get the same message frequently on both my 22 Corsair, as well as my 23 Maverick. Bottom line is for whatever reason, if you don't drive the car frequently for long periods of time, the vehicle drains the battery abnormally. I've never had this issue from any of the other vehicles from various manufacturers.

Matter of fact, I just had this message on my Maverick on Monday. then yesterday I got it on my Corsair. This occurred about 2 weeks after charging both batteries to 100%

For most cars, when you open the app it will ping the car and bring the system back to full power consumption. It is also advisable to store you key fob far enough away from the car (or in a faraday box) to keep it from communicating with the car.

I would start with having the battery checked just to rule that out. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to check charging system as well.

I have all my fobs in a Faraday box. Makes no difference.

You could buy a trickle charger for what one long enough to be sure charged trip would cost (50 cents or more per mile). Then you'd have it for future use even if not current problem.

I would put a battery tender (trickle charger) on it until it registers as fully charged. It might take a day or two to get it to full. Then disconnect it and see if the issue happens again. It normally takes at least 20 minutes of driving to fully recharge a battery after starting a car. A number of short trips 5-10 minutes is not enough to fully recharge the battery. Most cars can withstand that type of use, but if the battery is weak or marginal, then the issue you described could manifest itself.

Very common issue and definitely a design issue. Engineers totally failed to recognize its main market of people that don't drive much. Having to constantly plug in a trickle charger is not a solution.

I did drive my car for about an hour yesterday to get it fully charged ... which was kinda fun But yeah ... my driving habits have completely changed since the pandemic and most of my trips are indeed 5-10 minutes each for only a few days a week. I just got so sick of constantly putting air in my 15 years old Escape tires and needed new wheels and so I spoiled myself a bit (I deserved it dammit!) Absolutely love the car, but this is a bummer it does this for those who don't drive it daily.

Looking forward to my big road trip though within the next few months! So many features I haven't tried yet like BlueCruise and adaptive cruise control! Lots and lots to learn still ...

I just ended up putting mine on a trickle charger (using a Noco Genius 10 that also had an AGM setting, too). If you can keep your key fob away (10 feet) and close the app (if you have PAAK) that may also help.

But I know the feeling all too well. Since the pandemic and also life situations, my miles have dropped a fair bit and spread over different vehicles.

I got mine in late December and don't drive it daily and have never had that problem. Mine sometimes sits in the garage for 5-6 days between drives, and I open the app regularly and keep the keys close to the garage. Now that you've fully charged it, see if and when it happens again. If it does happen again, It may be a faulty battery that needs to be replaced.

We had a company lease 2020 Navigator and I got the same msg. It wouldn't start and I had it towed under warranty from house. Dealer said it was a bad battery. I didn't buy it. Six months later it happened again with under 10K miles. Towed a second time from house. Another dealer found a parasitic drain from passenger running board and fixed it.

That kinda upset me a long with the toll tag not working at airport due to some special windshield glass. Drive a 23 Denali with diesel engine now with no complaints. My 22 Corsair is so doing fine.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that constantly trickled is necessary with a good battery. Once the battery is fully charged it should be good for some time.

I make no claim of being optimum for battery life but I've had no problems sonce I started trickling about once a month.

I agree. And, I doubt it is a design feature unique to Lincolns these days to have these "issues" with such highly computerized vehicles.

I had this same problem on car less than a month old. Dealership reseated the battery and messages stopped.
