My Corsair is in constant deep sleep mode. Had it serviced no issues found. After talking with dealership and Lincoln it seems I don't drive enough? Suggested option is trickle down charger. I don't want a car you have to plug in. I am upset with this issue. Any one have any other suggestions. I feel I should have been told this since I don't put many miles on my vehicle. I love the Corsair, but now what do I do?

not for nothing BUT I have a 2020 Lincoln continental that has just started doing this same thing in the last month. as a matter of fact - 4 times and it has had to be towed to the dealership each time. A new battery was installed and within 48 hours it was dead again - in my garage.

Ironically - at the dealership as we speak and they can find NOTHING wrong with the car and can not find the cause of the drain... hmmm...

thinking it is a FORD/Lincoln issue

Yeah, yesterday I found my engine coming on even though I should have been in EV mode. The engine stayed on the entire trip. When I got home I hooked up my tiny charger and sure enough the battery was 25%. I had not driven in about 4-5 days so not surprised. The trickle charger filled the battery and everything was fine. I sued to have this same issue with my 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid and my 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. I don't drive enough to fill the battery and with alarms connected, keys constantly being searched for, the vehicle connecting over the cloud to Ford, etc. There is a lot of drain going on and I believe they expect the car to be driven every day or so to keep it charged. So, I'll use the trickle charger for periods I know I won't be driving like after my knee replacement surgery on 10/31.

I would suggest you drive out the electric battery, THEN drive home the same distance. See if that 30 minutes or so does the trick. That's what I do. I've never seen that message with 25k miles. I've also not driven more than a few times a week on the gas since July 18th.

I have a 2017 mkc and it’s been in the shop once a month for a dead battery. I don’t drive a lot but have alway driven it within a couple days when it happens. Battery has been replaced twice and it’s still happening at dealer now. Starting to look into lemon law since no one can figure it out and I’m tired of being stranded. Concierge has been great all but this last time but I’m over it

I dont know if you can still do lemon law. Check your state's laws.

Hi angietiggr and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. Sorry to hear you are having issues. Unfortunately, the Lemon Law regulations in most states are limited to the first owner, and only for the duration of the New Vehicle Warranty. In the case of Lincoln, that means 4 years/50,000 miles from the "In-service date" for the first owner.

Obviously check with your particular state...However, there are usually no Lemon Law protections offered by individual states or the manufacturer after that New Vehicle Bumper to Bumper Warranty period, nor for used vehicle purchases, unless otherwise stipulated in the purchase contract.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I am wondering how many of you that are having this issue have updated to the 4G modem? This all started around the same time as they shut down the 3G. Could it be that the car is searching for signal? Anyone ideas?

I hope this doesn't come out as a stupid question, but have they checked the charging system at all?

When I bought my 2010 Edge last winter, the dealership (*not* a Ford dealership) proudly announced to me that they had installed a new battery in it. After driving the car for over a week, I came to realize that the brand new battery wasn't charging. A few tests later I concluded that the alternator wasn't working. A few days later, I popped in a new alternator and lo-and-behold, battery problems in the Edge were solved.

Yes it’s been checked so many times and they are totally stumped. Like I said it started when they rolled out the 4G modem and the 3G was no longer supported. Everything was fine before that. Just makes me wonder abt the coincidence

I know we have beaten this topic to death but I wanted to add some tidbits:
1. These cars are computers on wheels and have a aways on 4G Modem that draws power 24x7
2. The alarm system is always on and drawing power
3. The lights welcome you and that's because the vehicle senses your presence with an always on sensor
4. If you have 3rd party security cameras, like I do, they are running whenever they sense movement around your car and they draw power. I have a front camera and rear camera. They both are on whenever anyone comes nearby. They are running down he battery as well.
5. To prevent the deep sleep, I use an easy to install trickle charger. I only use it when I know I won't be driving the car for a week or more. I will use it when I may be listening to music in the car or while waxing the car to make sure the battery is at top charge level. It's so easy to use as needed. I had the same issue on my 2016 Ford Fusion and my 2008 Ford Sport Trac Adrenalin. I worked at home so driving was not very frequent. My husband was retired as well so he ran the weekly chores. Highly suggest you bite the bullet and buy the charger and hook it up. No big deal. If you want me to post the URL to the Amazon page for my charger, I will do that. If you want help instructing you how to install it, let me know. We can have a video chat and I can walk you through it and show you my installation. Easy stuff here and gives you peace of mind. This is not a vehicle shortcoming at all.
6. I always put my car keys into a lead lined bag and hang it up. That way, the car is not always sensing the keys which are 30 feet away. I have the second key hidden in the car also inside a lead lined bag in case I forget the key and my iPhone goes haywire or dead battery.

I'm anal about this stuff and so you may be too. It's ok.
Hi I'm new to the forum and the Aviator, 2020 model. I traded my 2016 MKT a month ago. I loved it and never had issues with it. My husband wasn't satisfied with the interior size as he's over 6 feet tall, needless to say we upgraded. I love my Aviator!

Last night we came home after a week on vacation. It was sitting at the airport and the fob locked inside, the door panel's keyless entry pad would not light up. The app would not function either to remote start or unlock it. We could not get in. I knew there was such a thing as deep sleep mode for the Aviator but hadn't taken time to educate myself. The airport's garage service was able to unlock it for us free of charge and before Lincoln Roadside Assistance arrived. (Bc my app wasn't working & I didn't have their # saved my Lincoln salesman was a huge help in contacting them, TY Cody!)

What I need to know is, how do you wake up the Aviator when the fob is in it, the app features won't work and and the door panel won't light up? Is the best resolution to prevent this scenario by never letting the keyfob locked inside?
Also, any idea why the app's remote start is not working for me and is there some kind of troubleshooting I can do with the app, like syncing, uninstall the reinstall or see the Lincoln technicians at my dealership?

Thank you in advance for educating me on my 2020 Aviator.

I hate reading stories like these and they appear quite often these days.

The biggest fear I have with my Corsair is going into a deep sleep while I am on a week's vacation.

And it seems inevitable that is exactly what could happen.

Why Lincoln hasn't addressed this issue at this point is beyond me.

So, I basically have the same questions about how to prevent the vehicle from going into a deep sleep when not in use for a period of time.

The best I can do is use a trickle charger on the front battery a few days before I leave on the trip to make certain it's fully charged.

But beyond that, what needs to be done to ensure that anyone's vehicle doesn't fall victim to this issue?

I'm THANKFUL-
One, that my husband was with me;

Two, that my Lincoln salesman responded to my text by calling with help so late in the evening, all while he too was on vacation in another time zone;
and
Three, for the conversation to be had here where we can educate ourselves and hopefully bring light to the issues that need fixed.

It's a situation I've found myself in. Deep sleep mode bites, especially when the Lincoln has been in a parking garage for a week while on vacation. The only way I could get in was with a slim-jim and a skilled airport garage authority service technician.

This issue needs addressed by Lincoln.

Post liked to see suggestions.

Hi Tracey. There are several things going on here, so I will try to cover some of them in as brief a manner as possible. First, a little more detail would be helpful. For example, did the vehicle start up normally with the fob, once you gained access to the vehicle, or did it need a jump start?

Next...If your battery died or lost substantial charge after only one week of sitting, then the odds are good that the battery is failing and needs replacement. Unless you are in an area where temperatures are in the below freezing range, since that can bring on Deep Sleep Mode more quickly. And Deep Sleep mode will be enabled after 14 days of no manual starts, no matter any other factors.
Is it still the factory battery? The factory battery in a 2020 model may be 3+ years old by now, and 3-4 years is the expected battery life in modern vehicles, due to their heavy reliance on electronics, computers and other electrical features which constantly draw batter power, even when the vehicle is sitting still, such as sensors, remote apps and other items.

Next...For several reasons, you are on the right track that not leaving the fob in the vehicle while away on vacation would be the best idea. First, the fob contains a key blade which would have allowed you to gain easy access to the vehicle without help from others, a slim-jim etc. Second, if a thief broke into your vehicle, the fob would allow them to easily steal it.

Next...Contrary to the misunderstanding many owners seem to have, Deep Sleep Mode has a purpose. That purpose it to shut off accessory/ancillary functions which sap battery power, when the Battery Management System senses the battery is getting low on charge, in order to allow the vehicle to be started when necessary. In the past, all those functions would keep sapping battery charge, and the battery would die even quicker.
Deep Sleep mode allows the Battery Management System to extend the time period that the battery will keep starting power.

Next...When in Deep Sleep Mode, the LincolnWay app remote functions (remote start/lock/unlock etc.) will not work until the vehicle is started manually again. Manually meaning sitting in the vehicle with the keyfob and pressing the Start button. Keep in mind that also means driving the vehicle long enough to recharge the battery (i.e. generally ~20+ minutes at speed), since only starting it will not charge the battery, and simply leave us in the same situation as before.

Next...For the most detailed explanations, the best course of action would be to read the Owners Manual explanation of what "Deep Sleep Mode" is, when it occurs, what is does etc.

Odds are everything is working properly in your Aviator, and it simply needs a new battery. However, if anything still seems to be working improperly, then yes, schedule a service appointment with your Lincoln Dealer and explain the situation to them.

Hope I explained the basics in an understandable manner.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

^^^Good stuff, as usual.

To elucidate what Lincoln HAS done to address this, you can schedule starts to keep the battery system charged if parking the vehicle for extended periods. This is done through your Lincoln Way app.

Hi Tracey. I forgot to mention one other thing, and am afraid you may miss it if I only EDIT my previous post: You could have called Lincoln Complementary Roadside Assistance to have them come out and help with the lockout, or a dead battery/other roadside emergencies.

Good luck.

If one is going to leave their vehicle a long time, myself I would have a key with me and leave a small lithium jump pack in the vehicle Costco sells them for about $50.00.

I will agree this should be an unnecessary precaution, but maybe better than waiting on service for an hour or 2.

Thank you so much for your kind explanation. Today I'm learning a lot from the forum and reading the owners manual. I take ownership for my "lock out" and this is a lessoned learned. I will not let my fob in the car in the future, especially knowing how easy a break-in can happen. I had a false sense of added security with all the alarm and security features the Aviator offers. After seeing how quick and slick it was "broke into" my fob will be with me always.

Yes, my Aviator started right up, no jump needed. I don't know if the battery is the original but I'll find out tomorrow. Conveniently, I have an appointment scheduled for the GPS / navigation system as it's not functioning with accuracy.

It makes complete sense that there's a sleep mode to preserve the battery. The technology amazes me.

Maybe you can answer another question, this one pertaining to the Lincoln Way App; (should it be a separate post)
Do you know how to get the location updated for my vehicle in the app? It hasn't updated it's location since Feb 8 but says up to date as of a few minutes ago. I did a remote scheduled start. It started, ran and shut off. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the navigation GPS, like I said is being serviced tomorrow. I hope to get answers then but in the meantime...

Thanks for your knowledgeable and kind feedback.

You should be able to "pull down" in the app to refresh the location. Or, depending on your device, completely close out of and reopen the app to refresh the location.

Also, under the Account tab is a tab for help. You can call that number or text chat with the Lincoln Way app support folks.

I did reach out to them but the airport garage we were in saw us on security cameras, sent their tech who had it open by the time I created a service request and was contacted by the Lincoln Roadside Assistance driver. The airport service was free too, which was a nice surprise.
