2022 Navigator

dang man, what a wait!

Well, mine is in production but ideally wouldn't be ready for delivery for 2 months ... looks like things might easily go in my favor there!
I got a text from my guy tonight saying it’s being delivered to the dealership tonight and I can pick up Monday after all the inspections and such are done. There might actually be a light at the end of this tunnel!

W00t! Good luck @Tcrowe and just remember: pics or it didn't happen! :D

One other small report: today in Eugene Oregon I saw a brand new navigator with IL plates ... I've never seen one in the wild!

@GrussGott when did you order yours? Trying to get a good time table. Sorry if you already posted this, but I didn’t see the date.

just closed out of the BMW forum and opened up the lincoln one to post my aviator showed up and saw your same avatar.

Little detail & coating project lined up for next weekend.
Just make sure the paint is old enough before you apply ceramic coating. I think the paint should generally be 2-3 months old before applying.

Hi Psykostevo. Factory paint on brand new vehicles is fully cured when we get our vehicles. It can be waxed, ceramic coated etc. immediately. Well, immediately after proper pre-application cleaning and prep.

However, you are correct that there is ~2-3 month wait period after having body work or fresh painting performed on a vehicle, before we can wax, ceramic coat or apply other paint protectants, since that fresh paint takes time to cure. That also applies to PPF (Paint Protection Film).

Good luck.

original order was in feb. it was for a 22, but messed up the rear console the wife wanted. so had to reorder. Reorder on 4/4 and it was a 23. we got the Grand Touring and that seemed to have a longer delivery time frame due to the hybrid.

love it.

Nice! What are you thinking of doing? If you saw any of my bimmerpost stuff, I've become a pretty committed weekly wash guy, but with rinseless wash.

I use McKee's N914 and TW flex wax, which works pretty fabulous for the time it takes. I can do a full wash in about 30 min including set up and tear down ... but there really isn't any other than charging my pump sprayer and getting out my mitts :D

BTW - man if I have tried every MF rag, mitt, and sponge out there ... I've settled on the rag company Chenille mitts and I use the "garry dean" method, i.e., a new mitt for each panel, working top to bottom. So easy: spray, wipe, chuck it in the dirty bucket, grab a new mitt, etc. Then I use TWFW as a drying aide.

I've done about 6 long road trips now and every stop I get out with some double strength N914, spray it on the bugs, and they wipe right off.

Quick off-topic pic (but not if people are into detailing!)
This was taken after a two day drive, including through some rain!, 500 miles, interstate & country miles, no wash other than bugs on the front
I think it looks pretty dang good for a car with no ceramic, no PPF, just rinseless washes & turtle wax 😮

I did read thru your BMW posts on detailing. actually bought some of the bilt hamber touchless wash after reading thru your posts. i use it regularly especially after a rain, as this florida sun is unbearable and have to wake up a 5am to beat the sun to do a full wash.

Going to do a light polish with some Koch Chemie micro polish as so far i havent noticed much of any factory defects. and that pristine white really sparkles.

then im going to do a Kamikaze ISM 3.0 coating. going to have the black trim PPF'd as that stuff scratches and swirls really easy. and think im going to smoke out the rear tail lights and side markers.

It wasn't me.

I have now seen a few limos and 2 non-limo 2022s in IL. Saw 2 in Fort Worth a couple days ago.

Someone has a 22 white L in my community, saw her while walking my manimal this morning.

Nice! Kamikaze is great stuff. and great to hear about pristine white!

I've got some brand new winters for my X5 that I've never put on, so I think I'm going to coat them with CarPro Dlux before I have them put on this year. That pretty hydrophobic and it can take heat so we'll see on that. If it works I think I'll try it on the 'Gator wheels (but a harder job since they'll be on the car).

Overall I've been maintaining my wheels with Brake Buster and N-914 and then I coat them with TW Seal-n-Shine since it's more chemical resistant and easy to apply. Overall that's been working out pretty good with no swirls, but there is some light micro-marring which I suppose can't be helped. The 'Gators all-black wheels (if they're actually delivered that way!) seem kinda scary for swirls ...

PPFing the trim / gloss black stuff might not be a bad idea ... I got the SEP for better or worse but I still don't know if I'll actually get it.

anyway, pics or it didn't happen!
