2022 Navigator

Hey all, welp, after 7 months, I got a VIN!

If you remember back to the previous episode:

A month ago the dealer called & said my order was cancelled with no options. At the time, the reason given was they weren't making any more L chassis's. Then I got a bunch of weird info from the dealership & the concierge, and long/short 3 weeks later I was back to waiting, except now I no SEP, no parking assist (I knew about that one), and no rear massaging seats.

So now today I just got an email with a VIN ...

3 months ago I would've know exactly what to do, where to go, etc, but honestly I'd kind of written the whole thing off so I've forgotten what I can do ...

Help! What can I do with the VIN? Anything cool?

Nice.

Pretty much all you can do with it now is track the progress(but not much detail). Eventually you will be able to see the window sticker. You will need Order Number and VIN for this. https://shop.lincoln.com/vehicle-order-tracking/

My order is being escalated to Lincoln Corporate because of all the shenanigans. Fingers and toes crossed something comes of it.
would you mind reviewing said shenanigans?

For me I can't figure out if it's:

(a.) The dealership
(b.) Lincoln/Ford ordering process
(c.) The recent recall issue
(d.) Supply chain issue
(e.) some combo of the above

But, definitely it's been odd (and crappy) compared to other non-ford dealerships I've ordered from over the last 15 years (100% of my vehicles!), including having just ordered another non-ford SUV in Sept and taken delivery in Nov, all happening fine.

Everything except C: recent recall issue. Whole process has been horrible. I ordered 10/23 priority code 2, didn’t have a VIN until April, bumped out four times a with the most recent build date being 8/8. Other builds IDENTICAL to mine have hit lots so what’s my hold up??? No one can answer for me.

Well apparently now I have priority of 1, but this seems to mean nothing ...

yup, got it last week about 2 weeks after a bunch of "your order is cancelled ... now not cancelled" baloney with my dealership
Do you have a build date yet? Glad you’re seemingly being taken care of this time around.

Nope, no build date, just the VIN ... Dealer says:

* No SEP
* No rear massage
* No APA (parking assist)

all of which I'm cool with ... but the process is not good. A guy I hear from took delivery a week ago and just got an email saying his vehicle was produced and being shipped to his dealer ... so, Ford's order system might have a wee bit of lag.

Any update to your order? Build date?

Hey all, new member here, sorry if this isn’t the right forum. But I’m looking to lease a Navigator Reserve. I live in Chicago but am open to shipping or picking up. Can anyone recommend a dealer that’ll do invoice or better pricing? Please PM me if you have someone you like, thanks!!!

I haven't heard of any dealers discounting the vehicles on their lots other than with the X-Plan. I have heard of some dealers selling them at invoice on custom orders.

Sorry I should’ve clarified. Yes we’re looking for a custom order as we don’t need it until Jan/Feb, although we’re flexible if something comes available earlier. Do you mind sharing those dealers with me? You can PM me if you’d prefer.

Hi ksh. When you state "Invoice" are you referring to the true Invoice price, or the MSRP/Window Sticker Price? They are two very different things.

The short story as to why I ask is: Absent any Manufacturer Incentives/Rebates, very few (i.e. very very few) Dealers of any manufacturer are selling vehicles at Invoice pricing, let alone "below Invoice". This is due to pandemic induced low supply, and high demand.

When buying off the lot nowadays, expect to pay MSRP/Window sticker or above (again, before any manufacturer Incentives/rebates). Factory ordering can get you MSRP/Window sticker or perhaps a little below (again, before any manufacturer Incentives/rebates), if you are a good negotiator and the Dealer is incentivized to sell.

If you are lucky enough to know a Ford Employee or work for a Ford Partner Company and can qualify for an X-Plan PIN, that will get you a little above Invoice price.

Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule, so it never hurts to ask and try to negotiate as low as you can.

Hopefully another member here will be able to recommend a Dealer willing to negotiate a price that is acceptable to you.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I got an email from Fair Oaks last week for $1000 off MSRP on custom orders. I'm not in the market since I got my Nav in April.
