Yesterday I went to go to work 1 min into my commute -15 degrees Celsius my 07 mkx has a wrench light come on the dash. The rpm's start surging and vehicle won't accelerate. Put the transmission into neutral turned engine off and back on light and issue disappeared. Then on the way home did it again. Same results anyone know what this issue is?

Here it is from MY owners manual.

Thanks for the info SGilbert.... Fortunately it was going to the garage today for a wheel bearing and ball joint mechanic's scanner read a torque calculation (what the desk person said). So he cleared the codes and thinks if it happens again will try to change the throttle body. My research on the net is pointing toward transmission sensors the TSS and OSS sensors. Any one else have this occur out there. P.S. I'm really enjoying this forum and all the help and information on here. Good job.

My 2015 had done the same thing a few times it’s currently at a garage they just told me they drove it sixty miles and it never did it for them and said they were going to check the throttle body

My 08 navigator is doing it now. I'll drive it for about 5 mins then it'll come on and put it in 3rd gear then when I come to a stop it won't go because it's stuck in the high gear I'll shut it off and it'll go back to normal but only for a few miles if I'm going slow when it happens it'll be stuck in a low gear.could really use some help figuring it out so I don't spend a lot of unnecessary money

Start by getting it scanned for codes.

Hi CM. I agree with jkeaton. Go to your local big box auto store (AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, NAPA, O'Reilly Auto Parts etc.) and ask them to scan your vehicle for DTC's. That would be the place to start. Many/most will do a basic code scan for free, but you may want to call first and ask, if it is longer drive for you.

In the meantime, do not disconnect your battery, since it can wipe out stored codes.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Wait, would that be on sealed or unsealed batteries?

For the 2007, 2008 the TSS & OSS sensors are most often at fault. From what I've read it's corrosion on the connectors at the sensor(s). Usual fix is to replace BOTH sensors. Believe it runs around $600 as artly inside transmission and difficult to get to.

Only way to know for for certain is to pull codes.

mysterious wrench light that dealer can't duplicate.??
what is up with that..hard to find anything in manual...except in tiny letters..hidden

Hi G. Not sure...are you asking a question?

Does your vehicle exhibit any symptoms of a problem when it illuminates?

Did the explanation in the Owners Manual not answer your concerns as to that the wrench light is or what to do?

If you are saying you had it to the Dealer but they could not duplicate it: Next time it illuminates, driver to the Dealership and show them. Do not turn the vehicle off when you get there.

Get back to us with more information and we can try to help. Good luck.
