Haven't seen any discussion about this. Anyone know anything about what to expect other than what a quick Google search unearths?

Seems that Cadillac had to keep up with Lincoln after the 2018 Navigator was unveiled. Now, Lincoln is rumored to be upgrading the 2022 Nav to Sync 4 with larger infotainment screen(s) to....keep up with Cadillac.

Also rumored to be updating the grill. I love the current grill, but I have seen rumors and "spy shots" purporting to have a larger front grill and possibly minor changes to the rear lighting as well.

Sync 4 will be a welcome change as I am in the early stages of reacquisition of my 2020 because of the repeated and never resolved software issues related to Sync 3 in my 2020. Guessing Sync 4 has faster processors to keep up an d hopefully alleviate the glitches.

Hi BL. I've probably only heard and read what you have heard and read.

Concerning your SYNC 3 glitches though: They are not inherent to the system/SYNC 3 glitches, per se. They are anomalies/production defects in the hardware and/or software of your particular vehicle
SYNC 3/3.4 works seamlessly in the vast majority of Lincoln and Ford vehicles, including Navigators (and my car).
However, problems and defects do occur, and you were one of the unfortunate ones to have experienced issues.

Like all complex computer hardware/software in all manufacturers vehicles, SYNC 4 will also have it's own teething problems, production defects, etc, etc. Just like engine problems, tire problems etc.

All we can do when we buy a vehicle is hope we don't get one of the unlucky few that have issues.

I realize that does not make it any easier to live with, but at least you will soon have a resolution.

Keep us updated on your buyback and good luck.

It's looking like I will be able to get into a 2022. I realize it is all more complicated than what I said. Just hoping the updated Sync, etc., alleviates issues and is a smoother running platform.

Lincoln made this offer, so I will take advantage. At the very least I will get to enjoy new car smell again lol.

Are you able to share the details of the offer for the exchange into a 2022?
Guessing it is fairly standard.

"Option One: Repurchase

· Lincoln Motor Company [LMC] will pay off your current lienholder after the vehicle is surrendered.

· You will be reimbursed for any down payments and payments minus finance charges, if applicable to your state’s lemon law, minus usage, negative equity, late fees, aftermarket contracts, items, or accessories (if they don’t fall within the refund).

· Any payments made on the vehicle that are not included in the Repurchase figures will be refunded once the buyback is complete.

· You will remain responsible for any loan payments until the buyback is complete.

· If you choose to accept the Repurchase Option, a private offer will be provided to you which will allow for a discount on a new Lincoln vehicle, if you choose to purchase another. At the present time, the discount certificate is $2,500. This discount certificate may not be compatible with any or all offers presented to you from the dealership.

Option Two: Replacement

· Lincoln Motor Company [LMC] will pay off your current lienholder after the vehicle is surrendered.

· You will pick out a new Lincoln vehicle.
(It does not have to be the same model, however it does need to be a new vehicle)

· You will remain responsible for the current loan balance, usage, and upgrade charges.

· If your vehicle is New, the upgrade cost would be the difference between the MSRP of your current vehicle and the new vehicle.

· If your vehicle is Pre-Owned, the upgrade cost would be the difference between the base price of your current vehicle and the memo invoice of the new vehicle.

Option Three: Substitution of Collateral

· This option is only available if your lender supports this type of transaction.

· You will pick out a comparably equipped vehicle the same make and model of your vehicle.

· You will keep your current loan and everything regarding your loan will remain the same. Same payments, same due date, same everything.

· You will be responsible for any usage, upgrade charges, and other out-of-pocket amounts. These amount will be paid at the time of surrender in certified funds.

· There is no payoff associated with a substitution."

Unfortunately there isn't much info in regards to these vehicles. All we can do is speculate at this point. The 2021 f150 and aviator is a good starting place so I would assume sure bets would be upgraded audio (28 speaker revel for nav, 18 speaker b&o for expy), lane centering tech with possible self driving option, upgraded massage function, larger displays and infotainment tech, and possible hybrid option. Some things I hope they add are the generator, ventilated sec row, heated third row and front console, fridge, air suspension, and 4 zone climate controls.

Wow, lots to digest, at least you have some options! Hope it all works out for you.

Ya, no telling when the 2022's will be offered. I thought I had read somewhere it would be towards the end of the year kinda like the 2021's were available I think late December/January. But there is always the "Covid wild card" which can be played at any time.

What I didn't see mentioned was the fact that Ford finally loosened the purse strings to allow the Lincoln division more control over their own line of vehicles. Meaning, no more high end Expedition with a Lincoln badge. The future looks very promising indeed. All that's lacking is a return to true coach works.

Hi everyone. Here is all the photos I have so far of the new 2022 Navigator. The screen is supposed to be MUCH bigger in the new one, I can already tell in the interior shots.

Also, there is new wheel choices. If you look at the wheels in the spy shots, they are different from the current Navigator.

The headlights that are being tested on this F-150 Raptor are the new Navigator's headlights. It's no longer two LED strips on each headlight, it's now just one thick one. They look similar to the Aviator's.

Wow! Looks like some sizable changes. We are in the market for a 2018 Reserve. When do you think we will start seeing price adjustments on the current gen?

With the chip shortage closing down the KY Truck Plant, it may be a while. I read on another forum probably late Summer. I'm holding for a 2022.

Rumors I have seen are bigger infotainment screen with SYNC 4, bigger grille, ventilated second row seats, upgraded massage function in front row seats, and hybrid engine.

Do you think the 2018s/2019s will be further discounted? I was just about to purchase a CPO'd Reserve with 48K miles on it for $55k. May be worth waiting now?

Hi Navi. While used car prices on previous model years do usually drop when a new model year is released, there is no set in stone rule. And any New model year price drop rules do not necessarily apply to the prices that Dealers sell their used cars for. For them, it is supply and demand and what they can get for a vehicle, not some arbitrary new model year date.

In other words, it is not as though we can say to the Dealer, "Hey, you need to lower your used car asking prices because the new 2022 models were just released".

And the biggest problem with waiting is that nice, "CPO's Reserve with 48K on it for $55k" that you are looking at now, may be gone by the time prices drop.

In my opinion: If you find something you like, negotiate the price down as far as you can, then buy it if you want. Waiting will not be worth it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, let us know how you make out, and good luck.

Thanks so much for the detailed response. I am supposed to go back to the dealer tomorrow with my decision. The vehicle is a one owner, no accidents and is in pristine condition. Based on these factors, would you jump on the deal? Not trying to derail the convo but would love your insight.

Hi Navi. I try to avoid giving buy/don't buy Internet advice concerning final decisions on used vehicle purchases. There are just too many variables.

For example: How is it equipped? There is no way to give accurate pricing information without knowing exactly how a vehicle is equipped. People may say it is "loaded", but "loaded" means different things to different people.

Next...We can not see what condition it is visually or mechanically...etc. For example again..."beautiful", "spotless", "mint condition" can all mean different things to different people.

Another example...What condition are the tires in? At 48,000 miles they could be the factory tires at the end of their life, or a cheap set of replacement tires that the Dealer stuck on there hoping the next buyer would not notice (possibly even mismatched), or a new set of good quality tires. We can not see that. And having to replace a set of tires right after purchase is a~$1,200 or more pricing consideration.

Those are only a few simple examples of the many reasons that blind Internet advice to buy/not buy is often worthless.

So, what I would recommend first is...Go to "KBB.com", "Edmunds.com" and "NADA.com", and work up their used car prices for this particular vehicle, equipped exactly as it is.
Then you can have an accurate a starting point for your pricing negotiations. Yes, there are people who will say those sites are "not always accurate". The reply to that is they are far more accurate than blind Internet advice, from total strangers who may or may not know what they are talking about (including me, despite the kind words of "Black Label"). ;)

Then, have the Navigator privately inspected by a shop/tech/mechanic you trust. If you don't know one, ask for recommendations from your family and friends. The small upfront cost is more than worth it on a ~$55,000 purchase.

I am sure others will have more information and opinions to offer, so don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Thanks again for the thorough response. This truck has brand new Hankook Dynapro tires and has the additional options below. It has one small scratch on the rear bumper (so small, the dealer had take several pictures for it to actually show up). It has rear captains chairs, pano roof and is black on black. I have a PPI set up for tomorrow but I don't anticipate them finding much, as it a CPO and a reputable dealer. If they come back and there aren't any issues, would say this is a decent deal? Promise, I won't hold you liable ;-)

Hi Navi. I worked up the pricing on KBB.com and NADA.com and it seems to be a decent price. But again, that is a blind, Internet appraisal.

I would only add this caveat: Do not necessarily count on the "CPO" label as being an ironclad safety net. It all depends on how conscientious the Dealer and staff are at protecting the customer. That is not a judgement on the Dealership (I don't know them), only a warning for you. So just do your best to ensure the shop/tech doing the inspection does a thorough job.

Thank you for not holding me liable. ;)

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

What are some of the features or changes yall wanna see on the new truck?
