New here and seeking some info on an MKT. I've researched the MKT quite a bit and am looking for some input from previous and existing owners on whether or not I should buy one or head for the hills. First concern is the fact that it's discontinued which will likely reduce future values faster. There seems to be plenty 2019 MKT's on the used market. I've found one that I like that appears to have all available options with 25K miles for $26K. Considering the new price was over $50K, paying $26K for one that is a year old seems like a no-brainer... what's the rub?

Any thoughts, input, guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

If you like the car; go for it!
If my '11 wasn't in such tip top shape, which it is, and if the trade in value were decent, which it isn't; I'd jump on a '19 in a heartbeat!
I love my MKT!

I really like my MKT. It's the first vehicle I've owned that didn't have me wanting to start looking for its replacement within a year. Granted, I'm deeply in the red on it, thanks partly to the selling dealer, extended warranty and gap insurance, so I'll have to keep it for probably at least another 3 years or more.

My '14 currently has 120,000 miles on it. It does have some minor issues, but nothing major mechanical to really speak of.

A 2019 with 25k for $26,000 seems pretty good, depending on how it's truly equipped. My '14 stickered for over $56,000 new, and it's only missing the factory tow package, refrigerator console (I installed the "simple" one out of a Flex) and rear seat entertainment, as far as major options go. I'm not entirely sure about the 2019s, but the opening moonroof was an option, as a plain glass non-opening roof was standard. Mine does have the Elite Package and inflatable rear seatbelts. According to the original window sticker, it was a special order vehicle.

The Tech Package is great, and I'd have a real hard time living without adaptive cruise control. My Advanced Park Assist hasn't worked for a while, and I'm still trying to figure out why. I'm leaning towards a bad switch. My climate and audio control touch panel has flaked out, so I've disconnected it internally until I find a good used one (almost everything can be operated via the touchscreen or voice), as Ford parts is showing it as discontinued - so much for auto makers being mandated to make parts for 10 years. The faux stitched seams on the front passenger's door armrest has been splitting open, and I'm still trying to come up with a good fix.

Would I buy another one? Probably. My mom liked mine so much, that she traded in her '15 MKX for a Certified '16 with 16k miles almost identical to mine. Hers has factory tow and refrigerator console, but not the inflatable rear seatbelts.

Thanks for the input folks. I like the way it drives and the options, just not a fan of physical exterior appearance which I can get over if I’m getting a quality vehicle.

Original sticker was 53,495 and has the elite package, also says special order. Second row bench so no fridge option and no tow package which I don’t need. Only major concern at the moment, which I hadn’t thought of until mentioned by @RedGeminiPA, is parts availability in the future since 2019 is the last year for the MKT.

Decisions, Decisions!

I have a loaded 2013 that I bought used 4-5 years ago. It's been a great car, and I really enjoy it. It's the successor to the old Town Car, and they made a large number of them in the "Livery" form (no third row seating). Those are pretty plain from an accessory standpoint, and I would pass on those -- be careful as some sellers don't disclose they're selling the Livery version. You should be okay if you pick one with the Eco-Boost engine and AWD. Lincoln never really promoted the vehicle, and you never saw a TV ad for it, which is their mistake. It's based on Ford's FLEX chassic, which they've also discontinued. I wouldn't worry about that or future value. I bought mine with 28K miles -- now have over 84K and plan to run it well into the 100's. Other than a new battery and tires, I have had no maintenance troubles at all. A 2019 with 25K mileage for $26K sounds like a good deal. Again, be careful that you're getting the right version of the car.

Yes -- buy it. I have a 2013 that I bought used 4-5 years ago -- great car. Only caveat -- becareful that you're not getting the Livery version (successor to the old Town Car). No 3rd row seating and very few options. You'll be okay if you get one with EcoBoost and AWD -- usually nicely equipped with neat accessories. Don't worry about it being discontinued. It was based on the Ford Flex chassis and drive train -- Ford discontinued that, as well. Given the miles and price, sounds like a good deal to me. If it's found a dealer, see if it's "certified" as there may be some remaining factory available to you.

Thanks again all. The one I’m looking at is a Reserve with the Elite package, 201a. History report shows it was a rental which isn’t a huge surprise. I’ll likely go for it, tomorrow!

Just got a call from the dealer selling the MKT offering me a loaded 2019 Ford Edge Titanium for $26K instead of the MKT. tempting for sure considering it has every available option.

It sounds to me like they're making more profit on the Edge, which isn't surprising to get that call on the last day of the month. Did you make a decision?

Probably right on the profit comment however they knew I was looking for something loaded and they just knocked $2k off the Edge. Going to the dealer tomorrow and will decide onsite, couldn’t make it there yesterday.

Glad you're ok, Vinay. Your 2015 looks like mine and my mom's. Mine has the front license plate.

Yes my car was loyal to me and saved me so I HAD to be loyal to my car and buy another one of the same car.

And after seeing this, my wife traded her Infiniti QX30 and got a 2017 MKC.

Any updates? Is it safe to assume you went with the Edge since we didn't hear anything?

I went with the Edge. Boiled down to options vs value and the Edge won for me.

Congrats on the new Edge.

Well, in an interesting turn of events, I’m now the proud owner of a 2019 MKT. The Edge was riddled with problems which included incorrect optioning within Ford’s databases which left the dealer clueless on how to correct. The vehicle had some options physically on the car that were disabled by software due to incorrect info in Ford’s service systems. I was at wits end and dealer told me to return it and take the MKT.
