I noticed yesterday that the yellow air bag light was on when I started the car. The DW was sitting in the seat at the time. I took the passenger seat for the trip home and saw it was still on. Dealer item?

Correction.

Yellow light is on all the time (when the car is running), but it's not the same light.

One reads OFF (passenger seat empty) and the other reads ON (passenger seat occupied). That would appear to be normal operation, although in almost 11 months of ownership, I never noticed these lights on while driving.

Was this something that changed in the last update (September 25)?

Nope, the passenger airbag notification is required and has been on every car for at least 10 years. My 2001 F250 even has a notification but no weight switch to enable/disable. Older cars use a key to disable it instead.

After nearly 11 months, I would think I should have noticed that the on and off lights are on all the time. I never have been able to fathom the way a mind works, especially my own. It appears to be working properly, so on I go to the next thing that catches my eye.

Yeah... I know. The DW has been telling me for years that there is no help available for me. There is a final solution of course, I'm just not anxious to get there.

We all have our challenges. I was going to try and answer this thread, but then I realized that I'm always a passenger. So I know what the airbag light does when there's a passenger, but I've never been there when there wasn't. 🙃
