WHEN WILL MY CORSAIR BE BUILT

I ordered a 2022 Corsair Grand Touring on 4-14-22. Does anyone know when I can expect it to be built and delivered? My salesman says it's in the next batch to be built, but he doesn't know when that will be. I'm hoping to take advantage of the tax credit before it starts phasing out. It starts phasing out when Ford reaches a total of 200,000 EV's and PIHV's since 1-1-10. Once they hit 200,000 the phase out begins the second quarter after that. So if they hit 200,000 in the first quarter of 2022 I'd only have until 6-30-22. If they hit it this quarter I'd have until 9-30-22 to take delivery and still get the full credit. One article predicted that they won't hit 200,000 until third quarter, which would give me to the end of the year. Of course if it gets too late in the year they may just switch it to a 2023.

I ordered my 22 GT on December 21,2021. So far I have a build week date of April 25, 2022. I checked with Lincoln concierge this week and no further updates are available. As Voidoid suggests it looks like the 5+ month delivery range is in order. I’m in Canada so that might stretch things out a bit further.

Mine is the hybrid and it took 5.5 months, I'm not sure if the Standard and Reserve models are getting built any quicker. Everything is slow at this point...

Ordered my Reserve on April 6th. Lincoln e-mailed me 2 days ago with an estimated build date of the week of May 23rd. Today got another e-mail from Lincoln moving build date to the week of May 16th. Don't know if ordering a Grand Touring has different lead time since it is a Hybrid?? I imagine there are many factors that influence the actual build date, so it is hard to rationalize how build dates are assigned

I ordered my GT on 4 April 2022, I have not received a build date. The dealership informed me that it will be about 8 to 12 weeks before delivery.
I am hoping much sooner!

We ordered my Corsair GT on 1-26-22 and just received on 4-17-22 that is was scheduled to go into production on 5-23-22. So, unfortunately you'll need to be patient. I was told that the tax credit will continue for 2022. It will no longer be in effect 1-1-23 so you should be good.

Ordered Corsair 3/4/22 and build date has changed 3 times. Now build date is June 20, 2022. February there was a 6 week shutdown on Corsair line due to shortage of parts.

My understanding is that GTs are scheduled in batches so they kick out a few thousand all at once during that period. I would assume that is to keep the parts straight. Right now they are selling every single GT they can make as it is one of Lincolns best sellers these days. Your sales rep can log into an internal Ford system that tells them exactly where the car is and at what stage. My Lincoln sales rep was fairly new and so my very experienced Ford rep told the Lincoln rep how to track customer orders. Many reps don’t know how to do that. I would press the sales rep to look it up via VIN# and if they give you some song and dance ask the sales manager to take a look.

Congrats!! Lincoln is luxury so understated. I love it over Acura, Audi, Cadillac, Genesis, BMW, and Mercedes. It was the best, SEXY bang for my buck for me.

On April 4, I got the perfunctory acknowledgement from Lincoln... then nothing. I did get in touch with the Lincoln Concierge, and that's nice. A very friendly person sends me periodic updates to tell me that they have no update. There's really nothing I can track until they issue a VIN and I have no idea how long that will be. My Corsair GT is the basic model (no additional options), so you'd think that would help speed the process. From what I'm seeing here, I guess it won't be delivered until late September... maybe October.

You may be correct about the expected delivery date being in the late fall.

I have friends that ordered their Ford Escape back in February and they have received a half dozen emails about their production date being pushed back again and again. The latest they are hearing is September. However, they expect another pushback.

There is no relief in sight for the chip shortage crisis and it's just halting production on all brands across the board.

The only reason I got a 2022 Corsair GT was that I found one sitting on a lot back in January. I got lucky and I didn't pay over MSRP (though the dealer certainly pulled some shenanigans I had to pursue them for a refund on).

This brings me to this question...

You aren't able to find a GT sitting in a lot anywhere? I don't know how many Lincoln dealers you have in a 50-mile radius, but I would hope one of them would have a basic one in stock. Then again, perhaps the car situation has become so bad that even finding a basic model is impossible.

In any case, good luck to you. I hope your vehicle goes into production soon.

UPDATE: Just looking in my area (and I am in NJ), there are GT models to be found on the lot. If you are willing to travel to the NY area to get this car (not that far for you), you could pick one up. Right now I am looking at a dealer in Staten Island who has 9 GT models on their lot, but I would warn you that they tried to rip me off big time. However, I am sure there are Corsair GT's in NJ to be found and I'd be willing to help you look.

UPDATE 2: I am looking at South Jersey dealerships and they have a few GT's sitting on their lot.

UPDATE 3: I see listings for at least one GT sitting at a Delaware dealership (Carman Lincoln)

The only advantage you may have to wait is that you have a price locked in. I am not sure how badly these dealers will be charging over MSRP.

Another thought: If you already have a deposit with a dealer for your GT, perhaps they can have one shipped from one of these dealerships I mentioned. I am surprised they didn't look to do some sort of swap with a dealership out of state.

I used the Lincoln website to do a search of 2022 Corsair GTs within 100 miles. There were 7 matches:

• 1 in Silver Spring MD [6 miles] (on lot but with >$10K in options I don't want PLUS $9K dealer markup scrawled on window sticker)
• 1 in Gaithersburg MD [9 miles] (on lot but with >$11K in options I don't want PLUS thousands in dealer markup)
• 1 in Alexandria VA [20 miles] (none on their lot — somebody's order in transit?)
• 3 in Chantilly VA [24 miles] (none on their lot nor website — somebody's orders in transit?), and
• 1 in Delaware Carman Lincoln [87 miles] (none on their lot — somebody's order in transit?)

It appears that several dealers are listing "in transit" vehicles as available. I guess that's in case the person who originally ordered the car backs out, changes their minds, bought something else — the dealer is lining up other potential buyers.

From the search, all listings had (at minimum) a custom paint color $695 that I could live with... but many had $10K to $12K of options that I really don't want.

For those vehicles that were actually on a lot, I was surprised to see the flagrant dealer markups (not shown on their websites because brazen price-gouging is discouraged by Lincoln corporate). Those dealers know they have something in high demand, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Anyway, thanks again. I guess I'll just have to keep waiting for my April 1 order.

I don't know anything about how car dealerships work but I'm wondering if those models that are "In Transit" are destined to be put on the lot and not on customer order.

In any case, I knew the car market was horrid, but after seeing you list all the markups they put on the vehicle it seems like your best deal is the one you locked in on.

Maybe, if you want to call the dealerships the vehicles are in transit you could inquire if they are custom ordered or being put on the lot. If it's the latter, you could go there and talk to them. Part of me feels like if they want to make a sale, they won't let you leave and could agree to MSRP. Another part of me feels the market is beyond awful at this point and there's no deal to be made -- even getting down to MSRP.

Might not hurt to call.
