My Lincoln
2023 Aviator Grand Touring
I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. When I purchased my 2023 Aviator from the dealership, it came with locking lug nuts with a particular pattern. Somehow, I misplaced the key to remove them. The dealership is telling me that they can not order replacements, and the only solution offered is to burn off the locking lugs and replace them with locking lugs with a different pattern. This seems rather extreme. Does Lincoln not stock locking lug nuts from previous years? Has anyone run into this problem before?

Try calling the Lincoln concierge. Hard to believe that they cannot order a replacement key with VIN#, proof of ownership, etc. Not a lot of dealer margin in ordering this I would presume.....Lazy dealer perhaps?

Hi Jim4214. The locking lug nuts are supplied by “McGard”. That would be the company you need to speak with about a replacing key a most key.
Lincoln and Lincoln Dealerships do not “stock” locking lugnut keys. They don’t have the information.

If you purchased your vehicle new, you should have been given a registration card to register your locking key with McGard (if your salesperson did their job properly). It would also contain the key registration code to order a replacement key from McGard.

Perhaps check all the purchase paperwork to see if it is in there?

Otherwise, you can call McGard and see if they may be able to help without it.

Also, while locking lug-nuts can help deter some thieves, they are not impossible to remove without a key. They can be removed with needing to “burn” them off. Many tire shops would be able to do it. Of course, you will need new ones once they are removed.

If you can not find the registration card and/or McGard can’t help, call some of your better local tire stores to see if they can/will remove them for you.

I’m sure others will also jump in to help, so keep us updated and good luck.
