V6-V8 trany swap?

Is this possible? My 04 V6 LS was recently totaled, and although I was devastated I found a silver lining. My trany has been acting odd. Shifting to hard, long slow shifts, has had me worried for a while, I was waiting until income taxes to do anything because that's the only time I'll be able to afford a swap... However, now that the car is totaled with at least 5,000 in dealer body work, I'm trying to find a way to save my baby. My plan is to find a front end damaged match, which I have for SO cheap, but I can't find a V6... Of course the body will match and I can get the rear side panel welded, but I'd like to snatch the trany out of the part car along with cat converters and rear driver's brake n blinker wiring. Will these match up from a V8 into my V6? I've also though about going the other direction. Finding a slightly damaged V8 n using my V6 for replacements.
 
OK guys, after extensive research I have determined that although a v6 - v8 trany swap may be possible.... It is a very expensive and laborious waste of time. They do share the 5R55S as do most fords. However, the shift patterns are way off and the fix requires a computer rewrite. Also the interior is not a perfect match. I would imagine one could cut a v8 drive shaft and marry it to a v6, just be sure to measure exactly. The only question left is if the bolt patterns are the same. I personally have found enough information to verify that I was wasting my time...
 
I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly, but you're gonna use a v8 as donar parts for your v6's body and use the transmission from the v8 in your v6? For all that work, I'd say you should end up with a v8 LS. I think you'd love the v8 more than the v6. I don't think they share the same bellhousing, but you can get around that with a 1/4 engine plate with recessed bolt holes for the v8 tranny and your v6 engine then fasten both to the midplate with recessed Allen screws. Then plugs and computer mods would be the next step. After that, you've got your v6 connected to the v8 tranny and a space between the rear end and the v8 tranny. This part is simple, measure between the two and take the two drive shafts to a driveshaft place and tell them which ends you need off each and the length you measured and they will make you a driveshaft. The one I go to in my town, charges around $20 for that if you've got all the parts there. But I seriously would go with a project that yields a v8 after you're done.
