My Lincoln
2005 signature
Hello. My 2005 Lincoln is going on limp mode between the speed of 15-20 mph. It shifts fine from 1st to 4th gear but as soon as you release the accelerator and it comes down to 15-20 mph that’s when it goes into limp mode. Any suggestions??

Try cleaning your throttle body yet ?

Start with easy things.
Is the transmission fluid correct when engine running hot and in park on a level surface?
When was the last time the fluid was changed?
Pull codes and post.

If it is truely going into LIMP mode, there are codes.
Please post those. It saves a lot of guessing

That powertrain code is for the throttle actuator control.
In vehicles that have drive by wire systems.

There are a lot of things that can cause this.
Low coolant
EGR Valve Malfunction - not fully operational
Mass Air Flow Sensor Malfunction
Drive Axle Modifications ABS,
Traction Control or Stability Control Failures
Automatic Transmission Problems
Abnormal System Voltages

Repairs that may fix it are .....
Repair coolant leak or top off system
Repair transmission fluid leak or top off system
Replacing or cleaning ABS sensor
Replacing or cleaning EGR Valve
Replacing or cleaning Mass Airflow sensor
Cleaning corrosion from connectors
Repairing or replacing wiring

Inspection and further diagnosis is necessary

I am having the limp mode issue with my 1992 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series and have been told the code was for the transmission oil pressure sensor/switch? Do you know the location of this sensor? Possibly on the side of the transmission?

Post the code. That car has an AOD. I am not aware of a pressure sensor. Has speed and shaft sensors.

In addition, the sensor may be OK and other things are causing the sensor to report issues.

My son who has a degree in automotive and is a mechanic for NYS put it on his machine and the code came up as a transmission oil pressure sensor which I am picking up tomorrow. I already checked the transmission fluid and it was fine.
I have since found the location is on the top of the transmission near the transmission lines. Thanks for your help.

My 1992 Lincoln Town Car has a cloth top. Does anyone know if I can take it thru a touchless car wash? I have cleaned the body but not touch the cloth roof. Anyone got any advise? Thanks.

Code 2106

P2106
You posted the same thing over a year and a half ago. What has changed since then?

P2106 A powertrain code hence the "P"

See post #7
In addition a poor battery and/or cable connections including grounds can be a factor.

Mileage can be a factor. How many miles on the vehicle?
