I give up. What is FAT? I would love to install MP3 in my car.Just format it with FAT and drop your mp3 files on it. You can have them in directories if you want.
From Ms. Google:I give up. What is FAT? I would love to install MP3 in my car.
To add to @Sharbotcom's post, FAT is a very old file system (almost 50 years old) that is virtually universally supported on all computer, game console, camera, portable player, home theater, or other electronic system by one variant or another. I would also be interested in an answer. The issue I have is that not all the time does the music continue from where it last was shut off. Sometimes it goes back about 15 songs and I have to manually move it forward. Sometimes it resumes just fine. All my songs are listed and tagged in alphabetical order. Wondering if anybody else has the same issue. To add to @Sharbotcom's post, FAT is a very old file system (almost 50 years old) that is virtually universally supported on all computer, game console, camera, portable player, home theater, or other electronic system by one variant or another. The variants over time were developed to support bigger and better computer systems, larger files, etc; and FAT32 (about 30 years old) is hanging around as the defacto standard supported by most everything.
To format a flash drive as FAT32
As far as music files, MP3 files (also around 30 years old) are just about universally supported. There are other music formats that are considered more pure if you're an enthusiast, but their support is less common.
- Insert the USB drive into your computer.
- Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
- Right-click on the USB drive and select "Format".
- Choose "FAT32" as the file system. (Accept defaults unless you want to 'name' the drive.)
Also, there are apparently some limitations in selecting the play order of the MP3s. That may have been addressed with the most recent update. I just got that so I'm unaware of it's impact, but previously the system would play MP3s in filename order instead of using the 'tags' inside the file (artist, album, track number, etc). Perhaps someone else can speak to that.
You need to tap on the icon in the center to choose a music choice. Your flash drive should have a name - you might have to scroll either up or down to find it - then just tap on the correct name and it will then play. Also the issue I was having is that it would not continue from where it left off from the previous session. The work around I found is to pause the flash drive before you change music choices or shut the car off. Then next time to choose your flash drive for playback it will resume from where it was.I've owned my 2024 Nautilus less than a month and would like to play music from my MP3 thumb drive. However, I have not been able to find a media input option. Radio and Spotify (through my Android phone) work fine. Any help would be appreciated.
