Sync 3 update?

Am currently, as I type this, chatting with a help person the app. She says there is no update notification feature. Weird.

Hi BL. That is correct... and once again you and I were replying at the same time. That is what I was trying to get across in my previous reply.

The LincolnWay app does not notify owners that there is definitely a SYNC or NAV map update available for our vehicles.

What it does is give us periodic notifications reminding us to check the SYNC update website to see if there are any available SYNC or NAV map updates possibly available. (EDIT- Or connect via WiFi for automatic updates)

And the wording of the periodic notifications is confusing owners.

Good luck..

We cross wires A LOT. Lol.

Hi Paddy. What was your previous SYNC version" And what was your previous NAV map version? And what model and model year is your vehicle?

If you received a NAV map update, it should now be "NA 2 20", not a 2019 map version.
2021 Corsair GT, Ver. 3.4 build 20282, Nav Map NA 1 19, software up-to-date 10-21-2021. Does any of this make sense?

Frankly, it is hard to tell.

I updated, weeks ago, to 3.4.21194. I did it via USB. 21194 is MORE current than Build 21098. Yet, when I input my VIN, on the Lincoln owner site, to check for a Sync update, it tells me I am running 21098 and that I am current! Yay me!

Well, I KNOW I am running 21194. Again, I installed it myself and the vehicle itself shows that Build in Settings.

So, I will head bbf off at the pass here and just say...good luck.

:)

Hi Paddy. Yes, makes perfect sense. As a few of us are discussing above, nothing changed for your SYNC or NAV map versions. In fact, you do not even have the latest version of SYNC (v. 21194)

The LinconWay app does not tell us our vehicles definitely have an available SYNC or NAV map update.

What you received was simply a periodic reminder from the LincolnWay app, reminding you to check the Lincoln SYNC 3 update website and NAV map update website...and/or to connect your vehicle to a WiFi network and enable automatic updates, if you want automatic updates to occur.

Go here to check for SYNC updates: https://help.lincoln.com/update-sync/

And here to check for NAV map updates: Lincoln - Sync3 Map Update

Hope this makes sense.

Good luck.

Hi. I went to the update sync link, entered my VIN and got a message the my "Sync (null) system is up to date? How can that be if you and others are seeing a newer version? It doesn't even say Sync 3 is up to date! I also got a message that "You currently have no vehicles in your garage". Excuse me?
I went to the second link and was offered a complementary download of map files Sync32.zip with a license. I am downloading the file to see what it is.
I am totally confused to say the least!

Like I said, good luck.

There is a lot of ready, fire, aim with respect to Sync 3 and how updates are rolled and managed.

Did you buy the stick or download and make your own? What file have to be on the stick? I have three but also downloaded a license file. I can find no where about putting that on the stick as well. The navigation site said I was getting NAV 2 20. When I put the stick into the car it immediately says its done and leave me at NAV 1 19. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!!!!

If you do the installation via USB, you need to put the USB back into your computer and upload a file to the Lincoln website so it confirms the installation was successful. The instructions are at the bottom of the download site.

Also, be aware these vehicles shipped with an outdated version of SYNC Navigation too. You can download the new version 2.20 at the Lincoln Sync3 Map Update site.

You also have to reinsert your USB drive into the computer after this installation so it can upload the confirmation file.

Yes, very true. I may not have done that because I was leery of the update. I thought if the update didn't take, I could do it again. You are absolutely correct, and I have done that previously.

That said, if the owner site still thinks I am on 21098 with 21194 being current, why does it say I am up to date with 21098, but it provided 21194 to me previously? Is your head spinning yet lol? Mine is.

That's a great question. I'd go by whatever shows on the vehicle touchscreen vs. the Lincoln website.

I learned yesterday that you can't use a SSD for audio purposes. I have an extensive CD collection and thought it would be easy to get a portable SSD and use that. I kept getting an error saying the device wasn't supported. @bbf2530 told me other folks had that issue. There isn't enough power for the drive. So, I'm going to a large sized USB drive. I'll test that out this weekend. My understanding is those work well.

In my case, I know I updated to 21194 because I did it myself and the vehicle shows it.

However, when the next glitchy update is released, will my VIN show it as available? Know what I mean? What's the point of checking for updates if the site shows you current on a known outdated version? maddening.

Hi Paddy. I have always downloaded and installed via my own USB drive. That goes for both SYNC and NAV map updates.

There are now numerous threads concerning SYNC and/or NAV map updates which explain that there are often several false "Your update is complete" type messages, and not to remove the stick for at least 10 minutes after any message like that, in order to give the update time to resume and complete.

If your SYNC screen shows you still have NA 1 19, the NAV map update did not complete. Perform the installation again, have patience, and do not remove the USB stick until any/all "Installation complete" type messages have been on the screen for at least 10 minutes. And be sure to follow the instructions precisely. Keep vehicle running the entire time etc. etc.

The key is to have patience.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

The problem turned out to be a file missing from the SyncMyRide folder within the download. An interior electronics agent at Ford/Lincoln explained it to me. I made the correction USB stick (15 not 14 files in the SyncMyRide folder) and 40 minutes later I was updated to NAV 2 20. He also confirmed that Sync 3.4 build 20282 was the latest for the 2021 Corsair GT only. He said the appropriate build depends on the VIN of the car (supported feature set, etc.). My patience was almost at it's end but all is well now. Thanks to all for the support!

The topic is Sync3 updates in this thread. I only brought up the loaner vehicles as another false promise/statement made by Lincoln. Just like Sync3 updates... If things don't work just admit it. Otherwise, loose customers respect.

On the topic of loaner vehicles - Once again, I understand what you are saying but unfortunately the reality is that Lincoln should >stop< running the commercials (of the lady sipping coffee while all goes smoothly for her) if it's not fully supported by sanctioned Lincoln dealers... That's great that you are able to get a loaner for service >as promised<. In our case, in Dallas / Fort Worth, willing to wait or not, loaner vehicles are no longer an option according to the two dealers where I tried (**Because we needed the loaner >as promised<)... I completely sympathize with what is going on in this world so we dealt with it.

Not a big deal but STOP the commercials if it just ain't true is my point. I saw one last night 😂
I can’t get a loaner.

I can’t get a loaner.
My 21 Reserve is at the dealer for the recall on the rear camera software, a small rattle in the crossbar at the sunroof and one or two other minor issues. I scheduled this appointment about 10 days prior. On Thursday last week they came to my house, brought me a replacement 21 Corsair Reserve loaner and took my car to the dealer... Easy peasy. I expect to have my car back this afternoon.

Re: Sync update...I asked them if they would do the update for me while it was there, they said "maybe" LOL
