2004 Lincoln Town Car Signature.

I'm having trouble with my Speed Control.
It's not something I really use on any vehicle anyway but it'd still be nice to have it working again.

When I activate it, the "Speed Control" light on my cluster turns on as if it were operating.
The problem is, it isn't.

When I set the desired speed and release the accelerator, the car still starts to slow down as it normally would without mechanism.

I don't know a thing about what parts are contained within this type of feature so I don't have much room to start looking off the bat.

The fuse was fine, but I replaced it anyway in case.

Any pointers are appreciated.

Have you scanned the vehicle for any trouble codes?
If so, please post the codes here

The system is made up of a number parts. (Switches, clock spring, actuator, brake light switch module)
Since you stated, "I don't know a thing about what parts are contained within this type of feature ..."
I would suggest getting the shop manual. There is a diagnostic routine in there that will lead you to the issue which may be a poor connection.
The system and diagnostic routines have changed over the years.
Pulling codes as suggested above is a step in that process. Especially is there is a warning lamp lit up on the instrument panel.
