I washed the car yesterday, and a bubble developed in the satin chrome strip below the front grille during the washing process. It looks like maybe a rock or something hit it to cause a small hole. The car is only a month old! Has anyone else noticed anything like this with their satin chrome trim? The big, beautiful front end isn't going to look so beautiful for long if this satin trim is that delicate.

Hi joshb00. Schedule a service appointment to have it replaced. Or if you can wait, have it taken care of on your next scheduled maintenance visit.

Just curious: Is it only a bubble, or is there a nick/penetration of the trim finish?

Keep us updated and good luck.

It's hard to tell, but it looks like there is probably a nick there. So, I'm guessing they'll tell me it's damage from a rock and not offer to replace it.

I'm thinking I'd better get that whole front end protected with some of the clear protection film. Florida isn't very good at road maintenance, so I already have 2 rock chips in the paint as well. :( And I stay as far back from cars and trucks as I can, but stuff is constantly flying up when you're on the highways here. It's frustrating!

Hi josh00. Unless there is a blatant sign of other damage, it will likely be replaced under warranty.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I will keep an eye out for any delamination.

I just noticed a chip in the lower stain trim on my Nautilus. Looks like a stone chip. I had PPF installed on the bumper and hood but they didn't do the lower bumper valance. Going back to have that done and see if they can add PPF to the satin trim. I guess that can't be touched up. Looked up the price of a new one and it is $152.

Wait until you see what happens to it when it gets wet!

Just got back from the PPF shop and they wrapped the painted lower valance but said they couldn't wrap the satin molding. Said the film would lift off because it was too slick. I noticed the upper satin molding has some small bumps or imperfections on the lower edge. These molding sure are cheaply made. I can see them getting dinged up and faded as the car gets older.

That piece must not be painted. It looks like some type of silver colored film if water got behind it and made it bubble like that. Let us know if you were able to get them to replace it or if they said it was road damage and you have to do it on your own.

Had my dealer look at the lower satin chrome trim and they said it is not paint. The only thing that can be done is to replace it and the entire front bumper needs to come off to get to it. I am sure that is what would have to be done to replace the damaged upper trim piece that you have. I guess if we went with the Jet Appearance package we wouldn't have that satin trim but then we would be out another $3,000 for that package.

I think the JET package was way over priced but I have the 20 inch wheels from the JET package and really like the look

For the premiere models, the 20 inch wheel update was the same wheels used in JET package.

The mobile mechanic from my dealership came out and replaced the lower satin trim piece yesterday. He had to remove the front bumper, but he did it by himself in my driveway, and put it all back together perfectly. It looks like brand new. He also replaced the front rotors and installed the clips for the rear seat belts so they don't rattle against the side panels. Very happy with the service he performed.

I was going to get with you today to see how it went. I thought the bumper had to come off but good to know that it went well. I still have those two small nicks in my lower satin aluminum trim. Not real noticeable until the sun hits the front of the car. From your previous photo those trim pieces kind of look like they are wrapped with some sort of vinyl since your had a bubble maybe from water getting in behind it. Glad to hear it all worked out for you.
