2000 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series Versailles Edition
Hello everyone, I have a 2000 Lincoln Town Car and the original blower motor is definitely going. It makes very loud noises and even doesn't turn off right away when I turn off the A/C or heat. I ordered the motorctaft parts (fan ring and motor) from rock auto, and it came with another small part that I cannot figure out. Does anyone know what it is for or where it goes in the assembly? I've pictured everything below. The part in question is in the bag.

Update: I found a diagram and it seems to be what holds the fan ring on the motor, I pushed the ring down as far as it would go and slid the piece on.

Another Update: when I removed the old motor and compared them, it seems the new one's fan blades face in the opposite direction. The fan ring only attaches one way, so it can't be that I assembled it wrong. Maybe Ford changed the motor and this newer one spins it the other direction?

Final Update: Figured it out, works great! Tried deleting the post to prevent wasting people's time but I can't figure out how ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
