My Lincoln
1998 Town Car Signature Series
Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement rear view mirror for my 1998 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series? When trying to adjust the mirror the other day the plastic came apart and it fell off the mount. Ford part #XF2Z-17700-AA or XF2Z-17700-A. I ordered one from eBay and the box had the correct part number on it but the mirror inside wasn't anything like the mirror from the car. They sent me a very basic rear view mirror not an electronic one like what was in the car.

The electro chromatic mirrors are no longer made. Finding NOS parts is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Anything offered today would just be a standard Mirror replacement.

Just keep browsing eBay and a NOS part may show up one day

You won't find NOS as this style was only used a year or two. You can also look for the 97/98 Mark VIII rear view mirror when searching Ebay (see pic's), It the same mirror (7 pin connector) only with a wider mounting bracket for the compass module. Unfortunately there's not a lot of 7 pin connector mirrors, but you can easily find other mirrors that will work (by either removing wires from your connector and inserting them into the new mirror connector, or soldering the new mirror connector pigtail into your wire harness). I have a lot of auto dimming mirrors, so if you want pic's of ones that would easily work let me know.

To add to the above, used ones that actually work are in the same category for a different reason.
There is a liquid gel inside the mirror glass in a electro chromatic mirror. Over time the glass leaks and the gel gets out.

If I were you, assuming the mirror works and the housing is broken, find out if the mirror and housing can be separated.
If yes then, find a used electro chromatic mirror that doesn't work just for the housing.
Swap housings.

How much would one of your mirrors cost?

Just an FYI, there's a boat-load of auto-dimming mirrors on car-part.com. What Action points out is true, many will suffer the same maladies, but there are several that are graded in good condition.
