Rear axle swap???

Anybody ever done a rear axle swap, like the whole assembly, not just the shafts? I would like to get the locking diff and gear ratio advantage from a CVPI and am curious if, as long as I stick to similar year(s), will it bolt up without fabrication?

Virtually any Ford 8.8 rear differential assembly (open or locking) should interchange as long as the axle spline count is the same. That would be a lot easier swap than the entire differential/axle in my opinion.

You can pick from several brand/type of limited slip differentials combined with the gear ratio of your choosing.

The two options for number of splines were 28 spline and 31 spline if i remember correctly, for the late model Town cars.
