I am interested in buying a '23 or '24 Corsair GT PHEV. I currently own a Volt and I am thinking of replacing it with this vehicle. So, I have a few questions about the Corsair GT PHEV that I hope the current owners on this forum can answer:
1) What is the typical range in miles you're getting in electric mode?
2) Is the 2.5L I-4 engine noisy especially at full power?
3) Do you think the Corsair GT PHEV will qualify for a $7500 incentive in January of '24 when the new Inflation Reduction Act incentives kick in? I've tried to do some research and haven't found an answer.
4) What standard configuration does the charge port use i.e. J1772?
5) Have you had any issues with the hybrid power train so far?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

1) What is the typical range in miles you're getting in electric mode?
25-30 miles
2) Is the 2.5L I-4 engine noisy especially at full power?
During acceleration you get an annoying roar due to the CVT. When not accelerating hard it is very quiet.
3) Do you think the Corsair GT PHEV will qualify for a $7500 incentive in January of '24 when the new Inflation Reduction Act incentives kick in? I've tried to do some research and haven't found an answer.
I dont know. For 2023 it qualified for $3750 incentive
4) What standard configuration does the charge port use i.e. J1772?
J1772. Charges at 3.2KW max
5) Have you had any issues with the hybrid power train so far?
No
Thanks in advance for your responses.

1: 23-35 based on weather.
2; No (but I value mpg so what is full power).
3: You tell us since you're the one who might benefit.
4: Yes, J1772
5: No, at about 1950 miles.

At about 1950 miles, I'm averaging 71+mpg.

PS, I had a VOLT and although the VOLT gets far more electric miles, the hybrid system in the Corsair is more refined.

I have a 2022 with a bit more than 5K miles on it. Majority of my driving is local trips. So I am able to use watts vs gas. And I use 110 to charge since upgrading to 220 doesn't look to be much of a benefit for the type of driving I do.

My answers to your questions are similar to the preceding ones posted.

1: 23-35 based on outside temps.
2; There is a exhaust system roar typical of the ICE engine cars. Noticeable but not overly intrusive.
3: Don't know. Mine was purchased in Jan and last I looked it had something like a $6800 tax credit potential.
4: Yes, J1772
5: No.

I came from a 2019 FFH which I was able to get about 43 mpg on average. This vehicle is larger and heavier yet when the watts are consumed on a trip it goes to hybrid mode. If I drive normally, not too much heavy footing, I can get around 45-55 mpg. This is using the Normal driving mode. Over 65 on the interstates it never goes into hybrid mode and get about 31 MPG, only gas.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Both Car and Driver and Motor Trend complained about the noise the 2.5L I-4 made at higher RPMs. Good to hear that it isn't that big of a deal and doesn't detract from the quiet luxury of the SUV. The engine in my Volt is also a bit loud when it is running a full throttle to supply the current that the electric motors need. The MPGs you all have reported are quite impressive. My Volt will only get a maximum of 45 MPG running purely on gas. Are those figures calculated by the number of miles you travel on a tank of gas divided by the gallons used (which include electric only miles) or are they the MPGe (MPG equivalent)?

It's also good to know that Lincoln is using the J1772 standard (like the Volt) for the charge port, so I won't have to buy another level 1 or 2 charger. Right now, I think I'm going to wait until January of '24 to see what the new IRA incentives are for the Corsair. Until then I will be lurking and appreciating all of the threads in this forum.

1. 30 hwy. 35+ street (I enjoy hypermilling.)
2. Not in Excite mode. The noise is most pronounced when floored and going up a real incline. I avoid those.
3. I got $6843
5. One- the EV battery coolant hose broke. Stranded me in Chicago, which is my hometown. Took two months to fix. Still fighting to get reimbursed. The techs had to LEARN to repair it. Been a great vehicle overall, so much so that I replaced it when I totaled the first Corsair.

My reported 23-35 miles on all electric is as reported by the car; I've made no attempt to confirm.

My reported 70+mpg average was calculated from total car miles divided by actual gas consumed as retorted by the gas pump. But noteworthy is that the calculated and car reported mpg are almost identical so I may well never again calculate though I continue to record mileage and gas purchases so that I could calculate.

Though I've made no attempt to calculate (my longest road trip to date is only 220 miles round trip), highway speed mpg is disappointing, probably no better than mid 30s at 70-75mph.

YES! I love your numbers. Why? I've noticed that damn odometer and the app, maybe because of GPS, is AMAZINGLY accurate. I look forward to restarting my mileage logs. The person who had it first died, so I think the family drove it for a while as a straight EV. I had no cord with it after just a year and 25k miles.

I've noticed that I can do 37, almost 40 MPG highway, when I slow to 60 and go downhill. I'm also not driving long-distance as in crossing more than two states.

I have a 2018 Chevy Volt which will be passed to my son and I am looking at a 2024 Corsair GT factory order. I plan to keep connected to this discussion.

1) What is the typical range in miles you're getting in electric mode?
The car says 27 miles in warm weather (we got the car end of August). In cold weather (it's in the 30's now) it says 21 miles when charged. I consistently get a few more miles than it initially reports.
2) Is the 2.5L I-4 engine noisy especially at full power?
When it suddenly runs out of battery going up a hill, the ICE engine noise is very noticeable - cold engine, battery mode is very quiet. It's not super loud, just noticeable. On the freeway, when the battery runs out, the ICE engine is very quiet.
3) Do you think the Corsair GT PHEV will qualify for a $7500 incentive in January of '24 when the new Inflation Reduction Act incentives kick in? I've tried to do some research and haven't found an answer.
No idea about 2024; I think we're getting 3750 back this year.
4) What standard configuration does the charge port use i.e. J1772?
Yes, J1772, and empty to full takes about 3.5 hours on 220V
5) Have you had any issues with the hybrid power train so far?
Drive train has been great. We do have a "communications module" failure (no Lincoln Way or Blue Cruise or Lane Centering) and a warranty appointment scheduled.

Also, in our normal usage, it routinely reports 99.9MPG (which I assume is the max it can report). I set the trip odometer to measure between gas fills and the last one I calculated 99.2MPG. Overall, since new, the car reports 48MPG which includes three 600-ish mile trips. Highway mileage appears to be in the mid 30's. Although one of these trips we had a strong headwind all the way home and got 29MPG... We have a total of 1900-ish miles so far...

Oh, and we really like the car - very comfortable, pretty quiet, and the BlueCruise was cool while it worked...

This one could go either way. The requirements on content increase in 2024. AND in 2024 "may not contain any battery components that are manufactured by a foreign entity of concern". This means no critical metals or batteries from China. On the other hand Lincoln/Ford has had a full year to prepare their supplier chain. Don't expect an answer until 2024. Tesla is hinting their $7,500 credit may go down in 2024.

How are you getting 72 mpg? I've tried everything and generally get around 40-45 mpg and I'm not heavy footed!!

Really? I’ve heard rumors about somebody in an electric Lincoln called “Lead Foot Jim”…. Is that you? 😂

In my research I have discovered that the new Corsair GTs are only eligible for a $3750 rebate under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Disappointing, as I was hoping for the full $7500 rebate like some PHEV's have. I hope this information will be useful to anyone considering purchasing a new Corsair GT PHEV. I'm still looking for the right deal on a new '22 or '23 Corsair Grand Touring.

What is “The Right Deal”?

The prices on the '23's have not come down much yet from MSRP. Some of the new '22's still on the lot have a "Sales Hold" because of a recall that has no fix yet. The new '22's that don't have the "Sales Hold" don't have much of a discount from MSRP. If I buy a new '22, I'll incur 2 years of depreciation once I drive it off the lot.

Yep. Roll the dice and make your best decision … ;)

HA HA HA Not me.

How 71? Primarily because Pure EV mode is 99.9(?), I charge back to 95% whenever I'm back at home, and a lot of my trips are shorter than the up to 35 miles EV range (though I now think the actual average EV range may be closer to 20).

And it helps too that I don't do the up to 90mph (?) that it seems a disturbing few do. I'm scrupules about the speed limit and generally max at 72 even if limit higher.
