Pure EV mode in Hybrid model Corsair

In Pure EV mode, when going downhill, the car slows down as if it's shifting down a gear and a notification comes up that says "engine enabled for system performance".

Can I disable this feature?

I don't quite notice what conditions enact the engine enabling itself while in EV mode, but when it does it during the warm months -- which it often does -- it pisses me off as it makes no sense.

I can be enjoying my ride in PURE EV, with no harsh acceleration whatsoever, and the engine will suddenly turn itself on. I try to force switch it back to PURE EV by turning the dial, but that doesn't work. It can take a mile for it to resolve itself and go back to using the battery.

A couple of thoughts...
Sure designers may make bad decisions and the coders introduce bugs but I wonder why you think your knowledge of the vehicle is so great to think that overriding the manufacturer's decision makes sense ?

I wonder if your vehicle is defective? Even in Conserve / Normal, my trips are usually either 100% electtic or so near 100% that I rarely notice ICE coming on.

So why is this an issue, even if factual? Are you claiming something extreme like only 50% EV time?

In EV mode, once the ICE turns on (for whatever reason) it will generally stay on till the ICE comes up to operating temperature. This can take a few minutes. The only reason mine comes on is when the accelerator is pushed far enough that the EV power is insufficient to produce the acceleration your are telling it to do. Steep hill or jack rabbit start are the two that I notice it occurs at.

I believe it’s engine braking when the pack is too full to charge via regen. Happens on the Escape as well. I notice it going downhill after a full charge. Doesn’t happen in neutral fwiw

Yes to this, I live on top of a hill and the ICE does come on coasting down the the hill in any drive mode with a full charge when I leave the house.
