My Lincoln
2025 Reserve II Hybrid
My 25 Nautilus will not complete the powertrain control module update. Every day it says on the Lincoln Way app Update Interrupted. I have a good Wifi signal and have tried to update manually. I called Lincoln Conceirge twice and one rep said the state of charge of the 12 volt battery must be 80% and another person said 90%. They suggest having my battery tested at the dealer. I had a new a battery installed today because they said the original battery failed load testing. I told them to install all updates while they had the car. They told me that they installed 4 updates. I didn't even know there were 4 available other the the powertrain control module. When they gave me the car the update notice came up on the small screen and I showed the service advisor. He said that since I had a new battery to let the update run. I performed a manual update when I got home from the dealer and it still fails. It start the update then the screen goes blank after about 2 minutes and the Lincoln Way app says Update Interrupted. I can't believe that a brand new battery would not have enough charge to perform this update. Has anyone else had an issue getting this one update to install? I hope that this update can be installed at the dealer using their laptop computer.

Do you have the vehicle attached to local home wifi? In my area, the cell signals are poor so no cellular update is likely possible.

A failing battery on a 25 seems to weaken the argument that the 24 fails were due to a bad batch.

I thought my battery was bad since it was a early 25 build but now I am wondering if it went before I purchased the NOCO charger. But I have a new one now so will see how it will perform with regular driving and battery charger usage. I was able to get the powertrain control module updated yesterday. I have a good wifi signal but the update still failed. I moved the car out of the garage and connected it to my cellphone wifi hotspot. The update worked using the phone hotspot. The download of the software did take a while. The update said it would take 14 minutes to complete but it was much longer than that.

I have the same problem with my 24 R3. I called Support and they said it was interrupted due to low battery. I took it to the dealer and they said the door recall was draining the battery. The installed that recall and said that the update should retry in a few days. I doubt it will work. And this was the 2nd time the dealer said they did the door module recall..

I have been having the same problem for several weeks. Lincoln support told me it was a bad battery. I took it to the dealer for this, along with the vehicle not recognizing pedestrians. They told me it was 4 bad modules and they had to make an appointment with Ford this week to have them remote into my vehicle to update the modules. We will see. Not terribly confident but hopeful. I love this vehicle but this will be third visit in three months for warranty issues. Won’t be too much more and I’ll go back to the boring but less stressful Lexus RX 350😀.

From your comment about 4 modules, it sounds like you got a software update so the modules themselves were not bad.

Not sure. I think so, but have to go back this week after the dealership gets an appointment with Ford to remote into my vehicle. Have no idea what they will find.

Today my 2024 Nautilus Reserve II (not Hybrid) got the Powertrain Control Module OTA Update PT-24.11.0 update. According to Details, this addresses a regenerative braking issue.
Does the non-Hybrid model use regenerative braking?

The non hybrid does not have regenerative braking.

I have a gas engine '24 Nautilus BL and for the past couple of weeks I was also getting the “failed software update”message on the touchscreen each time I started the car. The update details referred to a Powertrain Control Module update PT-24-10-1 “to prevent a false warning on your instrument panel which could lead to a reduction in regenerative braking.” That really confused me as not having a hybrid I don’t have regenerative braking. About as confusing as Lincoln now referring to the Lincoln Digital Experience as Sync. Anyway, I saw the posts about the battery state of charge. So I hooked up my trickle charger that I had to purchase last year after multiple dead or nearly dead batteries on my new car. The first start this morning again showed the failed software download message. So I tapped the reschedule and went through the process again. A half later I started the car and the message finally was the software update had been completed. Thus, I believe your battery must be at a 100% state of charge for the Powertrain Control Module to update even though you may not have regenerative braking. Even a brand new battery will drop below 100% in this car very quickly because of all the background communication actions this car does 24/7.

If it did fail due to low battery voltage, the vehicle should state it to customer and the information should be readily available to Lincoln support.

Yes, it should but it doesn't. Even the Lincoln dealer mobile service tech who came to update the window control module safety recall could not get the PCM software update completed or suspect the low battery state of charge.
