My Lincoln
2001 Lincoln Town Car Cartier Presidental Town Sedan
I just bought a 2001 Lincoln town car cartier. The driver seat doesn't move forward or backwords just clicks. I have called Ford/Lincoln dealer ship and the part is discontinued and have searched the internet about 4 hrs. local junk yards dont have any either. The Part number is MM-950 with memory for the motor. found a whole seat in Vermont at a junk yard but they want 200.00 to ship it because Im in Illinois. Does anyone have any ideas? My wife is short and can't drive it lol

For about $300, you can get a seat with track and motor

$250 + $40 shipping

Seller states fits 2001 Town Car.

BTW if you add all of the other trim descriptions when you search, you will never find what you want. Just use 2001 Town Car and the part you want.

The part number of MM-950 may be a Motorcraft number or the junk yard number. It i not a Ford part number.

There are two others on ebay for more money.

Listed under seat track.

And Carid (and a bunch of other places, including Home Depot) has a motor assembly listed under MM950
Which IS a Motorcraft number

All are out of stock

non of them have stock i have looked

The compatibility feature shows 2001.

The other two listings on ebay for the track only show 2001 & 2002 only. Both are memory seats.
Ebay has a 30 return policy on all items that are not as described.

If a seller lists an item stating it fits, it better. Otherwise the seller pays for the return shipping and refunds your money.

The other solution is to take apart and repair the existing seat track. With the clicking sound, typically the contacts have picked up debris or are pitted due to low voltage. Because of the poor connection, the available current is not fully transmitted to the motors.

Have your wife push the button to the forward position while you shove the seat forward hard, you may really have to get into it . If it's clicking, it's got power, it just needs a little help to move. If this is your wife's car, leave it in that position until something becomes available.

Another source I just thought of is LKQ
This is a nationwide recycling yard
Can be reached at
(800) 616-1489

If the seat track motor is across the country, that is OK they ship to the closest yard because that is what they do anyway.

This is a great piece of advice ^^^

Removing the seat from the vehicle and cleaning everything, lubricating all moving parts with Fluid Film can help things.
The Lanolin oil in fluid film will not attract dirt.

Yeah, but then the car will smell like a lamb for about a month though 😃

All joking aside, there's nothing like fluid film in my opinion, I use it to undercoat all my vehicles, that and WoolWax are some of the best.

I have same issue with my 2001 and have been thinking that the only difference may be the memory function. It seems that it may be a stripped gear on the motor that goes forward/back and if so would not a motor out of the non-memory seat work? Or at least the gear if that is all that is broken.

I don't know if this issue has been resolved but I have a seat motor from my 2010. I don't have the car anymore and it's a long story of why I have the extra one, but I have it. lol. ,ne was a 10 SIG LIMITED if that works and you're still looking.

You still got that seat motor? I have an '09 that needs a driver seat motor to go back and forth

Yes. Sorry just seeing this. Shoot me a text or a call.
Careful with your personal information on view. It's always a good idea to send that via a PM(private message) so that the Cambodia bots don't get to go Phishing or call you directly (y)
