Popping from rear speakers, intermittent

Take the amp out first. If you see a bunch of worn out foam inside, replace it with new foam (I used some letters from a set of alphabet stick on foam craft activities that she used to play with). It fixed the issue for me, and having to say two curse words getting the amp out and repairing it for free is way better than $840. Especially when they both have the same chance of working in the end.
I just did this today…. Took about 20 mins and it workers like a champ…. Amazing… thank you!

I am so glad I found this thread I have the same exact problem with my 2012.
I will be pulling the amp out tmrw evening after work and will report my findings Thank you!

Hey Hammarlund
I am having the Same, EXACT problem. It was only once in a while but now it's constantly popping. And Now, it has this AM/FM Static sound coming through the front middle speaker when the Radio/Navigation is completely tuned off.

I have a 2012 Lincoln Nav w/ Sync Ver.1.
Your post was *VERY* illuminating.
I'm going to hunt down this Amplifier and take a look at it, BUT.... **QUESTION**
Have you heard of Beng able to install an *AfterMarket* Amp instead of that $600+ Factory one that broke in the first place??? Thanks!
Hi just wondering if you tried an aftermarket unit and if it worked?
I have the same issue that just started in my 2012

they diagnosed a bad amp. that's ordered, should be here tomorrow. I took the amp in the car out and removed the main board to inspect for things that might cause an intermittent problem: bad solder connection on the connector headers, electrolytic caps etc. Didn't see anything. For the price of the amp, this had better be the problem!
Was it the issue? Did it work?

My 2012 just started sounding like someone was trying to pound their way out of the trunk with a hammer, but it truly seems to be coming from the speaker in the door itself. Is this the same issue as described in this thread?

Hi ltl and welcome to the Lincoln Forums. Short story...It is hard to tell over the Internet, but from the descriptions given by the OP and you, I would say no.

Longer story...It is difficult to diagnose sounds and noises when we can not hear/experience them. Blind (and deaf) Internet diagnosis? The OP describes his noise as a popping or loud popping. You are describing your noise as "sounding like someone was trying to pound their way out of the trunk with a hammer".

To me, that seems to be descriptions of two different sounds. If your nose goes away when you turn off the audio systgem, then it is an issue with the audio system. In that case, if you can not do it yourself, you will need someone to look at your vehicle hands-on, in order to accurately diagnose and correct it.

Let us know how you make out and good luck. Good luck.

Did it fix it

Hello all,

I have the popping noise coming from my 2012 MKS. Popping coming from the subwoofer and rear driver door speaker.

I removed fuse # 39 underneath steering wheel, that stopped the popping noise.

I have no navigation or audio at the moment. I tried #40 and #28 but those didn't stop the popping.

I will now need to try the previous suggestions to fix the popping noise when I have time.

Hope this helps.

Jason

Same here 9New Member) 2010 MKS base.

These are the issues I found. Repair photos coming soon. $10 bucks, so far works as good as new!!!

My friend basically soldered new "gold material" and we installed new foam.

If all works well, I will add more details to this thread.

Cheers
Hi Mvagustabill, do you mind letting me know where the amplifier is? Every search, I only find photo of the amp but not where it is located. I believe there is one in the back and another behind the head unit? Would greatly appreciate the info. Thanks.
