Pedestrian Alert Recall Notification

This is simple Start your vehicle and put the transmission in reverse and as you back you will hear the pedestrian alert.
Or just put it in drive in a garage or near a wall with the windows down. It has the hum UFO sound in drive as long as the engine is off.

I have not heard the sound and identified it as the pedestrian alert. According to the notice, if it is not working you will get an error message. I have not seen anyone report seeing an error message. Like the window recall, this is likely another corner case fail but a fail is a fail.

I had a fault once. I had just put the car into park and a warning popped up saying pedestrian alert system fault and not get vehicle service immediately. shut the car off and came back about an hour later and the error was gone. Never got a notification in the app and no stored code.

On FB there's a thread about a federal issued recall on the 24-26 Nautilus causing a stop-sale. Seems over-the-top for this recall. Is there something else? Or is this a federal imposed stop?

I haven't gotten the fault yet. I'm in a parking garage daily, and the sounder is clearly not there any more.

If there is a known, unresolved safety issue that requires a Recall, they can be fined by the federal government for delivering the cars to new customers. They don't like to pay fines. And I believe the fine is for every vehicle sold.

Yep, around $27K per car, they noted. But is that for this Pedestrian Alert recall? The dealers involved made it sound like it was something else on the horizon.

Link for the FB thread? (Direct message is fine)

Based on a thread over on FB, it sounds like the recall SW fix is now available.
"My hybrid went in for an oil change and the service advisor told me the recall update just came in today and he will be updating my vehicle."
"Just got to work and recall remedy did just come out this morning"

I am sure getting the dealers updated is priority one.

Lincoln Way agrees that it's available.

I read the notice and it implies the update can be delivered OTA.

So the recall for the pedestrian alert system is for the noisemaker whether forward or in reverse, and just this past week they now have the "fix" available at the dealerships for it:
