My Lincoln
2022 Aviator Reserve
I have the 22 aviator reserve. Recently, right past the 50k bumper to bumper warranty. the passenger side parking light quit. Replacing the assembly requires the bumper cover to come off. (Nice design Ford. 😔). Anyone else have this issue?

This sort of design seems pretty common these days. Ford and Lincoln have been doing it for…a couple decades on many, if not most, of their vehicles. Can be frustrating. That said, we have not had any problems with ours yet.

Hi shope7. There are reasons why headlights, parking lights, LED lighting, and all other sorts of things exterior trim now require bumpers covers and other things removed in order to replace them.

The first reason is theft protection. If fasteners were easy to access and remove (like in the old days), these parts would be stolen on a regular basis. And with many headlight units now running well over $1,000, and other lighting and LED units costing hundreds of dollars and more, having them stolen would not be fun.

Another reason is aesthetics. Visible fasteners and fastener covers take away from the smooth and finished looks of modern vehicles, so everything is layered and hidden, even in the interior.

I realize it may not be the answer we want to hear, and it still makes it hard to replace things, but those are some of the reasons.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.
