My Lincoln
2018 Continental Reserve
I have a 2018 Continental Reserve. Only 1 of the 4 door handle lights work. Also just had the Instrument Cluster replaced, not sure if that could have caused other problems, any ideas?

My driver's door light went kaput a year ago with it just showing a tiny amount of light, I noticed the passenger one yesterday is showing no light at all, the two rear doors work fine as does the Welome Mat.
I suspect these handle LEDs have a high failure rate, whether no juice is reaching them I can't really figure out without removing the handles, a job that I'm not going to contemplate.
Maybe the electric system is shutting them down as the battery is
weak and the weather is cold.

Hi Jeyaar. Yes, under certain circumstances and variables, the BMS (Battery Management System) can disable certain accessory functions, in order to save battery power for starting. You will see that here on the Lincoln Forums in the various threads discussing "Battery Saver Mode", "Deep Sleep Mode" etc.

Whether that is causing the issue with your Continental is difficult to blind diagnose over the Internet, even with more information. However, the fact that the Welcome Mat and rear door handle lights still work properly would lead one to believe there my be another issue.

Is your Continental still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty? If yes, set up a service appointment and have it checked. If not, speak to the Service Manager at your Lincoln Dealership and see if your vehicle may be covered under any sort of Customer Satisfaction Program covering this problem.
In addition, I would also recommend calling Lincoln Concierge to see it there is anything they can do to help.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I have this issue also, but only on one door, the Driver's side rear (passenger door). It's weird that one went bad and not the Driver's door, considering that is opened and closed much more frequently.

Has anyone replaced or fixed this yet? The dealership charges a fortune just to look at / diagnose it.

I can't claim warranty as I live in the UK.
I have tried to ascertain if the little LEDs in the handle can be got at and replaced without removing the handle but getting detailed pictures of how the handles are constructed is tricky but as with many car parts it seems you have to buy the entire handle assembly to get the $3 LED to function.

It’s worse than that. You have to buy the whole door.

Hi NicTLg. Is your 2019 Continental (hopefully) still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty? If yes, the repair will be fully covered.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I just had all four handles replaced and unfortunately wasn’t able to take a look at the LED portion from the back side. The dealership sent them back to Ford.

Yes, the LED is inside the sealed unit so The entire handle has to be replaced, other posters have mentioned that they’ve had them replaced under warranty.

Hi steveee. Just on the off chance you thought the "You have to buy the whole door" thing was serious: No, you don't have to buy the whole door. ;)😂

Good luck.
