Oil on sparkplugs

2007 S.L. misfire code on #4. Swapped coil packs, still there. But I noticed oil on the boot. Valve cover bolts are tight. Are there sparkplug tube o-rings? Tried looking for anything close online parts sites, but come empty.

Are you sure it's oil and not antifreeze?
Have you removed the boots and checked in the spark plug wells?
The intake manifolds like to leak antifreeze.

Its oil. New intake manifold put on 3 months ago when the heater hose stub decided to take a hike. Was about to pay a shop to do it, but thanks too people on here, found videos. It was easy, watch a step, pause video, continue.

If there are spark plug tube seals (grommets), they should be included with the valve cover gaskets.

EDIT: Nevermind... I'm thinking of the DOHC valve covers.

I kept seeing videos about them & wondered if T.C. have them, or would a bad cover gasket cause this. There is oil on the outside of the cover.

I suppose if the valve cover gasket was leaking, one possibility could be oil getting to the spark plug coil boots.

The typical Ford/Lincoln silicone type gasket has load limiting grommets which are meant to prevent over torquing the bolts and squeezing out the gaskets. It is possible to over torque the bolts causing damage with today's commonly used battery powered tools. I don't mind using powered tools to disassemble but I am very cautious using them on reassembly. I will run the bolt/nut down with the power tool just to the point of being 'snug' then switch to a hand tool to properly torque the fastener in the proper sequence according to the manual.

In short, tightening the cover bolts on a leaking gasket almost always is NOT a fix for a leaky gasket.
