My Lincoln
2024 Aviator Black Lable
I have a new 2024 Aviator Black Label with Goodyear tires. I am not happy with the Goodyears. I have been thinking of changing to Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus. Does anyone have these tires on their Aviator, if so what is your opinion of the Continental's? Or does anyone have another brand that they like better.

Not same tire or SUV so just an FYI - The problem with most OEM tires is that they are engineered to get the most mpg, so traction suffers. When I was changing tires thru college in the late 90's, we thought German Continentals were crap. Plenty of sidewall blowouts. Since then, I think the company was sold and lots invested. They seem to get good ratings now.

I gave Continental a chance in 2020 (Contact Terrain AT's) and they work great on my MKX blizzard edition with optional snowplow. I lost about 2mpg, but I'm not slipping off the road anymore. So far, quite, responsive, no problems.

We're at just over 24K miles on the Goodyears, and I have similar thoughts about going with Continentals when our Goodyears are ready for replacement, probably this coming fall. I'm hoping that the 22" Continentals do a better job of protecting the rim at the bead, so that they won't scuff every time you even get close to a curb.

Welcome to the Forum. 👋
Do you have the 22" tires? If you do, there are already two threads on tire replacements that I found using the search feature.
Also, the posts I found on the tire you are considering all agree it is one of the best tires they have had.

Whenever mine go im planning to get the Michelin pilot sport 4 all seasons
Hi gang. While I can’t vouch directly for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4, I have installed their predecessors, both the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 and Pilot Sport A/S 3+ on my older MKZ over the years.

I got ~53,000 miles from the first set of A/S 3’s. And the current wear pattern looks similar for this second set of A/S 3+’s. So I would expect similar mileage over their entire lifespan.
All parameters were an improvement over the OEM/factory Michelins (Energy S8’s, if I recall correctly.
Better handling in all conditions, especially wet. Smoother ride, quieter…etc. etc.

So I would have no problem agreeing with “silverydragon72” and installing the A/S 4 or subsequent model update when I need a new set of tires on either MKZ.

My newer MKZ is still on the Factory Michelin Primacy MXM4’s.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Hi there. I've just joined the forum due to the new tires topic. My Aviator likely came with the same Goodyears (22" Eagle Touring SoundComfort Technology). I've gotten 50K miles out of them, so I can't complain, but the treads are really worn down, I'm having trouble deciding which tires to choose next. I've been advised that the Bridgestone A/S Alenza Ultras are comparable, as well as the Michelin Pilot Sports AS 4's, and the Goodyear Exhilarates. I've found the Goodyears to be pretty quiet and they got me through a sudden unexpected, fairly deep snowstorm through CO.

Has anyone used the Alenza Ultras? I've got a spare tire on right now and am pretty eager to swap out all 4...

Welcome. I’m a voucher for Continentals as I’ve had the Contacts on a number of AWD SUV’s and never been disappointed with any of them. Good mileage, quiet and good snow performance for AS tires. My wife got Continental’s as OEM on her 2023 Nautilus and I got these Goodyears on my new 2023 Aviator BL and the reviews on Tire Rack are awful. They get decent reviews if you live south but we get snow and the comments were very pointed…bad. Don’t know if I’ll keep them for its first winter after reading about them. My wife and I will be switching vehicles soon and I don’t know if I want her to test those Goodyears going to work at o’darkthirty in the snow. Already priced out the Continental’s for these meaty 275 x 22’s. Nothing is inexpensive anymore 😢

Son-in-law put the Continentals on their Expedition and loved them.

Michelin Pilot A/S are great tires but not as good in snow as some.

It's not my Aviator but when I upgraded the OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-As on my MKT to Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires the difference in noise and ride quality was absolutely night and day. It's like a completely different car. We were always happy with the MKT but with the Michelins it in some ways has a superior ride experience to our Aviator with the Michelin Primacy tires. I haven't heard of anyone putting the CrossClimates on an Aviator but my past experience tells me I'm extremely likely to go the same route with the Aviator when the time comes.

Our Son has Cross Climates on his wife's Subaru Ascent. They love them. Says they really handle great and ride improved over the original tires which they only replaced due to being worn out.

Curiousity here. What do you like about the Continental tires?

I did not say I liked Continental tires, I was just seeing what everyone else thought about them.

On our Daughter's 2018 Expedition, the 22'"Continental DWS 06 replacements rode much softer than the original tires and were much more responsive.
Both of our son's have purchased Continentals for other vehicles over the years. They generally are a bit cheaper than Michelins and wear as well.
